I am someone who uses his boots. Own a hiking business, do plenty of grounds work both in and out of water, submerging my boots working on rock walls within a lake.I’ve had many different males of boots over time. The vibram soles are great, but if they are $350 boots or $100 boots, they tend to last about the same.DANNERS are a great American boot builder. They tend to take repeated abuse and hold up better than most others. THESE BOOTS ARE THE BEST BOOTS ON THE MARKET FOR THE MONEY! They are comfortable and durable. I can get four pairs of these for the cost of the $350 ones. They look good, and are real boots. There is so much leather in them, where it matters, I’m happy they aren’t full leather (because they are the $350 ones).Danner is the best, I cannot say enough good things about them. I can buy these boots new for less than the cost of resoling my old full leather danners. Awesome boots! And made in America!
Have had them on three hikes, probably about 30 miles total through a variety of terrain and weather - my last pair of boots were a pair of Lowa Goretex Mid for (they are amazing boots, but I could not get rid of blisters) Because I need size 15 I am pretty limited for boots...-Here is what I experienced:- They are very comfortable - even after a whole day on the trail, they didn't need any break-in at all.- They have AMAZING traction - I hiked through a lot of wet rock and mud and felt very confident.- Waterproofing works great - I hiked along a shallow stream for a few hundred yards and felt no moisture in them at all.- They offer great support and protection,- Lacing them is so damn easy - I love the speedlacers!- They appear extremely well made and sturdy.- They are hotter than my previous boots - felt best with thin Merino Wool.- They are pretty heavy - on the one hand this gives a lot of confidence, but it may cause fatigue on really long hikes.- Best of all the price is amazing!!! I normally spend around $300 for hikers..Overall, I am so impressed with them and
Good boot. Size 14 a little narrow. Had for over a year. Still a good boot
I am very picky when it comes to boots. No issues with shipping. Seller was Macguires Army Navy. I ordered 10.5 EW and there is plenty of room in them. I will probably wear them as they are for awhile and then upgrade the insoles to a Keen N20 or similar replacement. If they last they will be well worth it. They have plastic toe and heel covers for hard use. They are light enough to wear all day. Vibram outsoles for comfort and Goodyear welt style construction. I can’t speak to water proofing since they just arrived but I doubt it will be a problem. I don’t need the USMC emblem but I don’t mind it either. The speed lacing system is nice. I tried to find slip on boots that fit me but no luck so these will be almost as good. Jump in, tie a bow, and you’re off and running. Oh and guess what, you can run in these boots if you have too. Maybe not far, but you could do it. The box says “made in USA. —— Union made”.
I have the all season Gore-Tex version. This is possibly the best deal in boots and we’re lucky to be able to buy them as civilians. One year as work, hiking and winter boots and they’re still basically brand new. And I’m really tough on shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box and felt pre broken in. The only thing I had to do in the beginning was rough up the upper tip of the tongues with a nail file because the nylon backing was eating through my socks and shins. (I always wear thin socks) But no hotspots and I find the size fairly true (11.5 / 45EU wide). I do wish they were more brown than camel/olive but some day I might darken them up with boot grease when they need a deep cleaning.
Like all Danner boots, they run at least 1/2 size too small. But once you upsize them, they are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.Matterhorns, and so many other great boots, which are not made anymore are a second to Danners. If they were black, they be perfect
