Exceptionally Well Made Shoes, Very Comfortable for Extended Activity.
I have been wearing a shoe in this style for many years on a daily basis but found that my old brands were no longer performing as expected and my feet were still sore and tired. I'm on my feet for 10+ hours a day caring for small children and needed something practical but very supportive; preferably something that didn't look orthopedic. I expect a high quality shoe to last more than a year. And then I finally found this shoe. It is easy to wear every day and goes well with a variety of clothing styles. It is extremely supportive and I stopped having tired and sore feet at the end of the day, even though I was having a bout of plantar fasciitis when I bought them. The only trouble I have had with them is that the toe box got a small "dent" at the tip from having to work on my knees on occasion and it then bothers my toes and I have to remove the shoe to pop the dent back up. It comes and goes frequently and is kind of annoying as I do consider this to be a very well fitting shoe. The toe got a little "burnished" where this is happening. Also, I have a wide foot and ordered a size 9W but the shoe looks deceptively narrow. So much so, that I almost didn't even try it on when it first came out of the box I was so convinced my foot was never going to fit. That being said, it's nice to be wearing a shoe that fits so well and seems to make my foot appear not as wide.

Awesome for NYC trip
I tried on lots of shoes and read lots of online reviews for shoes. I needed comfortable walking shoes that would be waterproof for walking around in the rain and slush in New York City for a trip I was taking. Based on reviews, I bought these shoes in two sizes so that I could be sure to have a good fit. I ended up keeping the larger size so that I could be sure to wear warm socks with them and not have to wait to wear them in because I received them three days before my trip. I wore them for the three days and they were very comfortable for walking the dog around the neighborhood so they were the only shoes I brought to New York. I took a chance And they were perfect. We walked over 30 miles over the four days we were in New York City. My feet were a little tired, but they were not sore from the shoes at all. My feet stayed dry and warm the whole time and these shoes were just surprisingly fantastic and comfortable. Sometimes with the wrong shoes on a long walk, my lower back will hurt, but that didn’t happen with these at all.They look good on the street, they were good enough for Lincoln center worn with a black suit. 100% recommend. I will buy these again.

I’ve been an RN for 40 years. One night, like 20 years ago, wearing athletic shoes and scrubs, I limped into a quality shoe store from a long 12hr. shift and simply said to the man, “My lower back, legs and feet are just killing me, both at and after work. I need some better shoes!” He said one word. Dansko. They were new back then, a bit expensive, but the moment I put them on and stood up? It was Heaven! I’ve worn this brand for the past 20 years. I’ve worn Dansko shoes a lot over the past 8 years. I rarely find a pair I don’t like. I have sandals, backless sandals, clogs, tennis shoes, boots, dress shoes. If they make the shoe type, I have it. I bought these based on my positive, extensive history with Dansko.The good: They are among the most comfortable Dansko shoes I’ve tried on. They fit true to size, including the width. No tightness across the box, which is a common problem for me. I usually need very stiff shoes due to arthritis, but a recent severe ankle sprain has made those shoes uncomfortable/caused my injured ankle to swell. These soles give just enough cushion to mitigate the pain the stiffest shoes cause, while still giving enough stiffness to give some support for the areas with arthritis.The bad: Right from opening the box, there is a chemical smell. I let them air out for about an hour, and it’s better, but still noticeable. I’m hoping it gets better.The worse: The shoe soles squeak. It’s part of my love-hate relationship with Vibram soles. They are very good at keeping you on your feet (I.e., nonslip), and comfortable. But far too often the soles will squeak as you walk. There are things you can do to temporarily minimize or stop the squeaking, but it’s a PITA to have to do this on a regular basis. I’ve found that several of my squeaky shoes after a while just end up in the back of the closet. It’s got me leaning to returning these.The ugly. Yeah. The shoes are unattractive. There is no sugar coating it. If you’re looking for sexy, cute, etc., these are not the shoes for you. But I’m guessing if you’re considering them after seeing the pictures, this isn’t your priority in footwear. I get it. Same here. Some Danskos are cute, on a rare occasion I’ve worn sexy Danskos. But these do not fit into either category.UPDATE 21AUG2025I’ve had these shoes 3 years this week. I have worn them out - and wore them almost daily the first 2 years. I keep them around now for ‘house shoes’ in my RV. But I definitely got my money’s worth out of these shoes. The squeaking did eventually stop.

Cute shoes bit uncomfortable on sole of feet
These would be great shoes for me, really cute, slightly cushioned, good support, a little arch support (would be better with more arch support), fit well, but for some odd reason Dansko adds a really uncomfortable oval logo on their vibram shoes that cut into the soles of my feet. It’s so frustrating, their vibram shoes would be a 5+ without that odd bump in their shoes. None of their other shoes have that uncomfortable logo on the heels/soles; their other shoes are much more comfortable on the bottom of my feet. I will need to return these and the other vibram shoes I bought. I probably should give them 2 stars instead of 3.
