Good Product for Odd Feet

Item Purchased: Dearfoams Women's Solid Velour Bootie Slipper | Size: XL Regular US | Color: CabernetLet's cut tho the chase. My beautiful wife of 65 years, an otherwise dainty woman, has strange feet. I guess her shoe size is best documented as women's 11AAA US. As I am more conversant than she with things computer, it falls to me to buy her bootie slippers online. The notion of finding a fit in a brick-and-mortar store is absurd.Knowing that even booties identified by big sizes are unlikely to fit, I recently bought four pair from various manufacturers and purveyors. They were all styles I knew from long experience would be acceptable, provided they passed the comfort and fit test. I ended up returning 3 out of four pairs.Mercifully, the slippers identified above fit. There was, of course, no guaranty that any of the four pairs would fit, despite their claim to being very long. They all bore size descriptions such as "XL" and "X-large", etc. All were medium size, as no narrow slippers seem to be made. These booties, my wife reports, are very comfortable, fit well with adequate room in the toes, and are acceptable in style and color. She's already washed them once in an automatic washing machine, and subsequently dried them in an electric automatic dryer. After washing and drying they still fit, and had stood up well to this treatment. As for the other three pairs that I returned, they were too short. If my reader has average feet, I offer my sincere congratulations.

Comfy, except for a poor (yet fixable) manufacturing move

These were snug at first, but very comfy . . . except for one thing:Unfortunately, the manufacturer sewed a tag into the insole of each bootie, making both terribly scratchy on the soles of my feet. What a stupid idea! It's like the worst scratchiest shirt tag ever, but on the bottom of your feet. Rather than returning the booties (which were otherwise quite comfortable), I resolved it by taking a seam ripper to each tag, which was rather worrisome as I feared accidentally ripping the insoles. The rough tags are gone (not without time and effort) but pieces of thread that couldn't be removed still remain on the insoles (at least that's soft). . . . Much better now! What were they thinking? Apparel and footwear manufacturers should always use alternatives to scratchy tags. The soles are stiffer (& noisier--my family can hear me walking down the hall, haha!) than any Dearfoams I've ever owned, but I figure it's a tradeoff since these booties are warm and otherwise comfortable. Hopefully the stiffer soles equate to a longer product life.

Comfortable

Dearforms are always a great product! I’ve always enjoyed getting these as a Christmas gift. I’ve also given them as a Christmas gift and they are always a welcome gift. They fit well, but expect a little stretching out as they get broken in…but not too much. They are very comfortable and soft. The faux fur makes them very warm and the rubber bottom keeps you from slipping on the floor. Although they do have a rubber bottom, they do not do well outside. One thing I have noticed, you need to make sure that the gold metal “dot” is on this slipper, otherwise it could be fake Dearform and will literally fall apart within a couple of months. Sadly, I didn’t know this when I bough my first pair a few years ago, and I had a pair of imposters which fell apart quickly. The gold dot certifies them legitimate Dearform. Comfortable, warm, and stylish.

Comfortable!

Read reviews and THINK I have figured out the problem with discrepancies! The slippers I bought are the silk/velour. When reading reviews and looking at pictures I noticed that the slippers in the pictures, although same basic style/ were different materials. I am a size 8 shoe and got the MED size and they fit perfect! So this slippers in this material seems to be spot on. Now some have said run too small or run too big and I'm guessing that they put all the reviews for all the slippers of this "style" (booty slippers) together even though made from different materials. and that depending on the material, the sizing is different and some run big and some run small or run spot on. So again, I have the Sara Velour ones and I am a size 8 shoe and the mediums fit perfect.. Not too tight so as to hurt but not too loose so that my foot slips and slides around.

Not as well made as they used to be

I bought these a while back but only started wearing them recently. Dearfoams--what's with putting the tag on the INSIDE, right where your heel goes? It's scratchy and unpleasant, and it took me ages to remove the tags, since they were so awkwardly sewn in on the inside where it's difficult to reach! I remember buying Dearfoams when I was a kid, and the material and craftmanship was much better than it is now. This product has really gone downhill, from a manufacturing standpoint. You'll be lucky if they last 6 months of regular wear.

Deerfoams sells good quality durable slippers

I've bought this brand slippers for years because they are very durable, stand up well to repeated washings, etc. I used to buy these in retail stores for years. It was more convenient to get the color and size I wanted by buying them online.
