Stiff leather. But over the next few days after arriving I broke them in. They are very comfortable. Particularly what was most uncomfortable was the stiff collar pressing on my Achilles. Thats was completely unnoticeable after day 4 of breaking in. And I got them on sale. Fabulous purchase. These loafers will look good on me during my Italy, France, Spain, Portugal cruise in a few months.
This was the third time I ordered this style because the first two pairs of shoes that I ordered were too large. For at least the last thirty years I have worn size men's 13M, however when I first ordered these in my normal size, I found that they were extremely loose. I then decided to reorder them in the next size smaller, size 12M thinking that surely it couldn't be any smaller than that. Only when I received them they were also too large, better, but still a bit sloppy. At this point, the next smaller size was a 11.5"M. Now I haven't worn that size since high-school, 50 years ago, but I thought, what the heck, what do I have to loose. When they arrived, I tried them on and found that they were comfortably snug, just enough so that when they stretch out, they will fit like a glove.The reason that I have shared all of this with you is because if you are looking at this style and are needing them right away, then you might want to consider buying two or three different sizes upfront, rather then doing it that way that I did. And remember, Amazon offers free returns for the ones that don't fit properly. Good luck, I really like mine.
I have been wearing this style of shoe for 30 years and find this one to be just the right look for me.The only issue I have is that, not surprisingly given the price, the leather is stiff and not especially supple.I wore them to break them in and within minutes had rubbed raw the back of my heel.This is nothing that a little mink oil, applied daily for a week, won’t fix. But, buyers beware.P. S. : Note that mink oil should be applied to the entire shoe as it will darken the leather slightly And you will want everything to be uniform.
TI really liked the style of these shoes, which are manufactured in several different countries, but they exhibit extremely poor manufacturing and wild variations in sizing. Received one pair with stitching completely unraveled on receipt and had to return another pair where the stitching unraveled after being worn twice.
Dockers Catalina are my favorite business casual shoe. Super comfortable slip on shoes with great feel and look. The saddle tan leather is fine quality for the price. This is the third time I’ve bought Catalinas and I love how the leather wears over time. Comfort to the max. You can make them work across many work / casual outfits. Strong recommend
When I wrote the following, everything was great! Since then, the stitching on the uppers came undone and had to have a local shoe repair resew them so I could wear them. Not happy:Great color and fit. Very smart looking with shorts or slacks. I need good arch support and these provide very good comfort throughout the day. The rubber sole provides added traction which is important at my age when climbing stairs or walking on inclines. Love these Dockers!!!
Quality leather that dockers is known for. I just keep collecting dockers loafers and dress shoes as they take a beating while lasting forever. Perfect quality at a great price.
