Surprisingly comfortable
I tried two other pairs of boots before I got to these. I was looking for a wedge type winter boot, but I have a high instep so it was hard sometimes to get my foot into the other boots that I tried, plus they were tight and I don't have wide feet. The nice thing about these is that the laces help adjust the fit of the boot, but they still have a zipper on the inner side of the boot to be able to slip them on and off easily. I was a bit worried that maybe these would be uncomfortable after walking around in them because the sole is pretty thick and I thought it would feel stiff. But I walked all around Pittsburgh in these in winter conditions and these were super comfortable. Also I didn't slip, although it wasn't super icy when I was there but I still have a feeling these would have good grip. I am 5'6, so right on that borderline wear pants can either be exactly the right length or about an inch too long, especially wide leg pants that are in style now. So the extra height on the soles Of these boots were perfect because they gave me just enough added height when I wore longer pants so that my hems weren't dragging on the ground. I got these on sale for about $50, so these were a good buy.
