Good all-purpose reenactor shoe
I'll be honest. When I first opened the box that these shoes came in, I was horrified. They looked like men's dress shoes.Except that I had ordered them to be my all-purpose 18th-century reenactment shoes, for days and event sites where those pretty 18th-century heels would sink into the ground or twist on uneven pavers, not to mention days when I'm just doing way too much walking (and carrying heavy stuff) to walk around in even the most sensible of heels. That would be virtually every day at work.I wear these shoes 5 or 6 days a week, for about 8 hours per day. Most of that time, I'm on my feet. They're good, stable, sensible shoes that still get compliments. The leather uppers look great, and the rubber soles look like stacked leather. And despite getting used hard almost daily, these shoes don't make my feet hurt on long days any more than any other shoes would. That's presumably because they fit my feet well and have nicely padded insoles.I would have given these shoes five stars, except that the outer parts of the soles have started to delaminate at the heels after almost two months of heavy use. It's just a thin layer of rubber that's coming off, so unless it gets worse I'll continue wearing them till I wear them out. Given how little wear my soles are showing so far, that should be a while. I hope these shoes are available again by the time I need to replace my current pair.
