Fantastic!
Fantastic shoes! I don't often write reviews but I have had bad experiences buying shoes online so I hope this review helps someone.Firstly, these shoes are brand new and arrived well packaged in the original box, earlier than expected, so no issues there. They look very good, with a narrow and low profile that seems to be the zeitgeist among high-end brands and their shoes. They do not look heavy, clunky or formal in an old-school way.Indeed, slip into them and they immediately feel light, well padded and comfortable, with good arch support. The shoes feel youthful, almost fluid and synthetic, compared to my many hand-made English oxfords (several Loakes and C & J's) and other oxfords, hand-made or otherwise (Magnani, Rockport and Florsheim). Especially the leather uppers....the soft, pliable leather and it's grain reminds me of a "leather" shoe I bought long ago that turned out to be a synthetic material. That feeling, as opposed to that from the stiffer, thicker-cut hand-made leather oxfords (except my C & J's), combined with the soft rubber soles, result in an oxford that will change the way you walk. In a good way. The soft, near-flat soles mean you won't make any noise, while your gait will appear more natural. The grip from the soles is phenomenal. I know many like the leather soles of hand-made shoes for the noise they make and the altered gait due to the "rocker" effect of the curved leather soles. Well, I used to be a fan too, until I tried these ECCO's.These shoes have now become my daily wear shoes. They look great with a pair of jeans, and I recently wore them in hot & humid Hong Kong with both formal and casual attire. I also used them for several long walks. They were brilliant.I've not used theses shoes in wet weather so I can't comment on water resistance abilities. The EU 45/US 11-11.5 M shoe seems slightly short for my size 10.5 D (UK) feet, and a tad narrow, although I expect the shoes to stretch with time. I have the same feeling with my ECCO Seawalker Tie Oxford which I purchased in June this year. Regardless, its not a bother and the shoe fit is pretty true to size.I intend to order another pair before the seller runs out of stock or ECCO changes the design!Possibly the best shoe I've owned. Highly recommended!
