I literally just got these shoes two hours ago. I had them delivered to my office and I put them on as soon as UPS drove away.First impression: Niiiice! I was pleasantly surprised to see the color was actually brown! For some reason, many of the "brown" dress shoes out there are more of an ugly tannish-orange. These are Brown with maybe a hint of mahogany red. I really like the color. They are also very light! This will be very welcomed when I travel for work and have these in a suitcase.I had read on several other reviews that they run big. One reviewer even suggested buying two full sizes smaller than you normally wear. I am usually a 9.5 or 10 (depending on the shoe). The way these were sized gave me a choice of 9-9.5 or 10-10.5 . I chose the smaller which is also EU size 43. They fit me perfectly. I wouldn't want them any smaller. They are very quiet, with no leather squeak or sound from the soles when walking. I have a bad habit of sitting at my desk and bending my foot forward with the toe down. After a while, this tends to put a crease in the leather of my shoes across the top. I'm trying to break myself of this habit, but I'm curious to see how resistant these are to getting that crease, and how well they hold up over time to regular use. If these first 2 hours are any indication, I think I'm going to like these alot!
I’m kind of amazed at how well these shoes fit me. being a size 12, I always run into issues where the design looks cool in the size 10 on display, but when you pull the size 12, the proportions end up looking like awkward clown shoes. Furthermore, what alot of shoemakers think a 12 is, actually feels more like a 10.5 or 11. Then when you size up to the 13 (because finding a 12.5 is more rare than Winning the lotto), the clown shoe effect is even more exaggerated. However, size 12 in these shoes is just right. They are just a slight bit snug on the first wear, but i can tell they will break in nicely after a week or two. The insole is leather and therefore a little bit on the hard side, but the shock point rubber heel and tread seem to provide just enough shock relief for me. The upper materials feel high quality, and have a touch of softness and pliability that adds to the comfort of the fit. The shoe weight is light and well balanced. The styling looks perfectly portioned, professional, and clean. Overall, the fit is great in a US 12, the materials and manufacturing seem built to last, and the price is certainly reasonable for what you are getting.
Shoes are top notch quality and comfortable. The only drawback is they come untied every 4.7 seconds no matter how tight you tie them. I think the laces are made of elvish rope.
There are certain things in life that you want to go out of your way to share with other people; for me one of those things is ECCO shoes.I cant quite say that these New Jersey Tie Oxford are my favorite, however, I can say without any question that I would buy ECCO shoes, these and or those that I typically buy (Helinski version) for up to 300 a pair if that is what was required. I say this because up until switching to ECCO shoes I had a horrible issue with fake leather and odor. No matter how often i would wash my feet, put new socks on, put powder in my shoes, my feet would sweat and my shoes would of course smell later on... not a great situation. In fact the odor was so bad that I went to pediatrists to find out what was wrong... end result they suggested some 'anti-sweating' stuff called DrySol.Instead of using that, I went to a high end product in ECCO and invested the money necessary to realize that in life you pay for the best product sometimes. I've become very good at finding these shoes on sales here and there, however, I would suggest to anyone, regardless of price, to buy themselves a pair of these shoes. Also, I don't know Amazon's return policy on these, however, if it is as good as on other items try them out.. put them on.. I'm confident that once you do you wont ever take them off. These shoes are used for work shoes and also used for going out with jeans and a button down on or fancy dress shirt. These shoes are good for anything 'relatively' fancy so long as that does not include a dress or shorts. I learned the hard way that "dress shoes" does not mean shoes that are worn with a dress. I'll always remember that year of middle school .Everyone go out and buy these... Everyone go out and buy these (see what I did there?)
So for years I've always been told Rockport makes the most comfortable dress shoes. I spent a lot of money on a pair several years ago for a wedding and they were really good for that night. Unfortunately each time I wore them after that they got less and less comfortable to the point where even with insoles in them after only a few minutes my feet began to hurt to the point where it hurt to walk after half an hour or so. I had an unexpected formal event come up and after checking some reviews on various websites decided to order these and pay for overnight shipping (it would have taken 4 days with prime) in case they didn't fit right or I didn't like them. There was some slight rubbing on the back of my heel at first but after only an hour or so of wearing them I can say these have turned out to be the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever owned. The only problem I have with them is a slight pinching on my left little toe, but that one is about half a size bigger then my right and it may go away once I've worn them longer. I actually hated to take them off after the 5 hours I had them on and I'm tempted to say they were almost more comfortable then my Keen hiking boots I wear during the day. I'm one of those people with an arch that is slightly higher then normal so finding shoes that don't kill my feet is a serious problem for me and I'm really glad I purchased these. I will definitely be buying ECCO shoes from now on when needed.
