Really enjoying these hiking shoes !

I needed some winter walking shoes that were more substantial than a sneaker, but less heavy than a full boot. These totally fit the bill ! I expected them to be good because they have the Eddie Bauer name, but was a little concerned because the price was so reasonable for a hiking shoe. They have totally fulfilled my expectations. Comfortable, substantial, great for winter walking -- they are also good looking IMHO. My only minor complaint was that the shoelaces are a little short (I like to double knot). Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Comfy hiking shoes

Comfy for long hikes. Very lightweight shoes, good traction but could use a wider toe area. I have flat wide feet & these are still comfortable and don’t rub on my toes.

NOT waterproof

I haven't actually worn these yet but did try them on and the size is right (my normal size - 8). However, they are listed as "waterproof" but the details say "water-resistant." There IS a difference but, for the price, that's all I need.10/20/23 -- Now that it has finally rained in Oregon, I'm wearing these now. One caution: the shoe laces that come with these shoes are terrible -- short and SO stiff (I even washed them) that they un-tie themselves after just a few minutes unless you attempt to double-knot them. I ordered ¼" half-oval laces (from Amazon) in 47" and they work just fine.

Comfortable and they look nice.

I wore them once on a five mile hike. They were comfortable and I did not experience any break in discomfort. I gave narrow feet size 8.

Second pair

the first pair lasted a little over a year but the condition of which they were worn were pretty brutal. The sole near the toe on one shoe separated so I bought the second pair and as luck would have it the price was 10 dollars cheaper than the first. All in all they fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable.

Lacing loop broke off after only wearing a dozen times

Bought these for a mid-June trip to Alaska because they're waterproof for hiking, and wanted sturdier shoes than my usual Sketchers. Halfway through the 2-week trip a lacing loop ripped off- see pictures- just as we were in Mt Denali park. I wore these a half dozen times prior to the trip to break them in but didn't do super intensive walking/wearing, so am very disappointed they barely lasted a couple weeks of use-- luckily we didn't have much rain to contend with (was told it was drier, winder, and warmer than usual by all the locals) as a hole would certainly let in water! Never bought Eddie Bauer shoes before and probably won't again. Otherwise they were comfy if a bit bulkier than I'm used to with sneakers.
