great skate shoe
The shoes I liked to wear for riding my longboard for the past 10 years or so were discontinued. I bought these to fill that spot. They are wonderful for longboarding. My feet don't hurt after a ride, the grip is good, and they seem to be holding up well to use. Its been a couple months now and no issues with quality and to be clear I am very hard on shoes. The canvas upper is holding up nicely, better than what I would expect from cheap leather or synthetic leather. Great for walking the dog, casual sports as well.

(HELPFUL REVIEWER)
Excellent shoe! I used to skateboard, but I have stopped for quite a while now; but because of my skateboarding past, I've been able to appreciate this shoe so much more. I purchased the grey/gum color, and I absolutely love them! Couldn't be happier. A lot of reviews talked about how this shoe doesn't have a bunch of cushion for the insoles, which is slightly true. But they are by no means uncomfortable. I don't plan on skateboarding in these, so they're fine for me. If you ARE going to skateboard in these, then I would get some comfy insoles for em', since there's generally a lot of impact on the bottom of your feet when you skateboard. If you are buying these for casual then you don't have to worry about the things stated above. Please note that these do run a half size big. So i recommend getting a half size smaller than what you normally wear. I ordered a size 12 and could have gone with a 11/12 or possibly an 11.

Honest review after a few hour skate session.
Pros:-The shoe is stunning in the looks department, and the Tobacco on Black is genuinely beautiful.-Length wise, these shoes will fit exactly to standards if you do the "foot against wall measurement"-I enjoy the rounded laces to flats-Zero blemishes inside and out, so no de-threading anywhere. No rubbing on a weird spot internally.Cons:-Insoles, although just enough at first, don't seem to be removable. I already know I will need to upgrade, so it seems I will have to tear the insole out or something. Not preferred.-The toe box is pretty thin. Took a whole session to start to break the toe box in and no longer feel the squeeze, and I would consider my feet slightly above average in width.Thoughts:-A solid 9/10 shoe. Not much else to say. I could see that dropping to an 8/10 shoe if getting the insoles out becomes a big chore, but I am hoping by the time I get there, sweat/wear from skating will work the glue or whatever a bit, and I dont have to struggle to get new soles in. I skate with non-abrasive DKL griptape, so material strength is not something I can guage accurately, as I experience virtually zero skating wear & tear. I got these one sale for $42.01 after tax, and I am happy.

Good shoe. Shipped as expected. I'm a fan of Etnies.
Quality and stylish skate shoe for the price point. They have pretty firm soles, so I like adding orthotic inserts to wear them for long days. The firmness is a solid base IMO, I just like a lil extra cushion on top of it.FYI, the coloration is kind of fascinating to my brain. I'd definitely call their color grey, but they also seemed to have a tiny tinge of bluish-grey when they arrived. I feel like the tiny bluish aspect faded over months as I got em muddy and scuffed at times.

BUYER be aware!! The bottom is FOAM. No grip, turns to a funky cloth over time and can be very slippery on certain surfaces.
We were looking to get shoes for my 13 year old, going back to school. After looking at several shoes within this brand and VANS, we found these. I was skeptical because it was so much cheaper than the others. NOW I know why.... BUYERS be aware of this, it's very important. The bottom of these shoes is a FOAM, not rubber. There's a trend with shoes over the past few years where they replace the rubber with FOAM. HUGE problem with the FOAM... It's very slippery. Especially over time the FOAM turns to a cloth type material and becomes even more slippery. We quit buying shoes with FOAM on the bottom because our kids were slipping during P.E. or around the house. NO joke, the FOAM sucks and I actually think it's dangerous. NO grip at all and the longer you where them the slippery they get.Saying that, the rest of the shoe is AWESOME. It's a shame they substituted the rubber but then again, if you want the rubber you'll pay around $45-60 for the same shoe, same brand.Just be aware of this... My son and I sat there looking at them debating whether we should return them or not... He liked them to much to return them. We are actually going to go to a shoe repair shop and have them put on full rubber soles or just have them add rubber to the bottom, even if it's strips of rubber to add traction.Other than that, great shoes, just be aware of the FOAM. The stuff honestly sucks and does wear down quick and gets slick. This is coming from owning several shoes like this and really sucked when we opened the box and saw the foam...

Exactly what I wanted
Love these. I was worried the material was going to be more like a suede based on the description, but it’s kind of a cross between micro suede and canvas. Fit great, comfortable, seems to be well made.

The quality is definitely much better. The comfort level is lacking though
I bought these sneakers to replace my Vans. I've been wearing Vans for years and years, and finally got fed up with them hiking their prices, and their quality going downhill. I thought I'd give these a try. The quality is definitely much better. The comfort level is lacking though. I spend most of the day walking on a hard surface, and with these, my feet ache after just a couple hours. I didn't have that problem before. They are a bit more narrow than what I expected. I have skinny feet so it didn't matter, but it's just not quite my style.Overall these are very nice, good quality sneakers. They just are kind of uncomfortable for me and are more narrow than I'd like. I would recommend these to others, but I'll be trying something else once these wear out.
