Arthritic toes? (Hallux Rigidus) Read on:
I have a 30+ year old foot injury that has led to arthritis in my big toe joint. My doctor told me I needed rocker bottom shoes, and recommended Hoka OneOne, but I couldn't afford the $200 pricetag. I found these and decided to take a chance. Even while I was experimenting with insoles, the relief in my toe was instant. I'm able to stay active and do the things I like to do without slowing down (much). Now that I know rocker botoms work, I bought a pair of MBT's that are my "nice" shoes, but these Exersteps are my daily beaters. Now for the details:The fit is true to size. I usually wear a 10.5 but sometimes an 11. 11s were too big but 10.5 fits perfectly, with one caveat: the heel cup is short, so they slip a bit in the back. It's designed to not hit your achiles tendon when the shoe rocks forward. I laced mine with a runner's loop and that solved it.Materials and quality are fine. No worse than other shoes in the same price range. So far they're holding up well with heavy use, including daily work wear, 3-mile dog walks, and cross-country urban hikes. They're not comfortable - at least not out of the box.The soles are thick and heavy. They're solid rubber, which makes them rigid so they rock properly, but there's no cushioning, and they pound the heck out of your feet. The insoles are paper thin with no padding at all. They're not glued in, so toss them out and get some good ones.Be careful though, you don't need much arch support, because the contour of the sole shoves the midsole up against the middle of your foot. I tried 4 different insoles before I found some that feel right. YMMVThe shoelaces are about 2 feet longer than they need to be. Get some that fit while you're buying the insoles. If you have arthritis and can't afford, or just don't want to pay for, the more expensive brands then these will work the same way. Spend a few extra dollars on insoles and they're comfortable for all day wear. If you want them for fitness, the rocker bottom combined with the additional weight will definitely add resistance to your workout. When all is said and done, I like them and will definitely buy them again.

Comfortable and Durable
When Sketchers came out with the Shape-ups I feel in love with them. I used to have blisters all over the bottom of my feet to the point where I could hardly walk until I gotten ahold of those shoes and then they stopped selling them due to people either falling over or twisting their ankles and then I found these shoes. I feel in love with them. The comfort of them is amazing. Their breathable, comfortable and they are not at all heavy. The style of the black ones I bought are kinda good being a tennis shoe and all. Maybe the white ones are more stylish but I work in security and so I am not looking for style just comfort. I will definitely be back for another pair and a pair of the white ones as well.

Good shoe in the right situation.
I bought these because one one foot was crushed in an accident and as a result I can't roll off the foot when I walk. My surgeon told me about rocker bottom shoes as an aid for this. I started with an expensive pair and notice they really helped me walk so I decided to try these as more of a work shoe that I wold care so much if they got messed up.For size I wear a 11 to 11 1/2 and only 11 was available in these so that's what I bought, they are pretty much to size to a hair small but for me they work. If they come in 11 1/2 I'd go that route for a little better fit. The one thing I noticed about both pairs is while walking is a big help, standing is a little harder because all of your weight is centered at the arch due to the shape of the sole. If I was to stand for long periods with little walking I think I would try a different shoe than a rocker bottom. Also another issue I had was the foot bed in both pairs, even though I have a normal arch because of the shape of the bottom it emphasizes the arch and I tried a different insole which helped comfort a bunch. My good foot experienced the same sensations as the damaged one but to a much lesser degree. So in short would I recommend these, yes for walking not so much for standing. The reason for 4 stars is the lack of half sizes but that could have been a timing issue on my part.

Shoes run small, order up a size.
Had to return because they were too small even though I ordered a half size up. Returning for an additional 1/2 size up. Will update when new shoes arrive tomorrow. Ignore the stars, you have to assign at least one star in order to submit.

Fashion Styling Exerstep a Physiological Foot above Vintage!
Very nice rendition and homage to MBT UrTires Urwheels. The outer sole technology similar but not exact physiology. The center pivot points flattened out, the outer sole not rubber. The inner sole quite amazing, I’m sure they take some give and breaking in to soften up a little. I took to walking in them right away like home sweet home. I do have foot issues and injuries I’ve been in therapy at home for a while. I wish Exersteps also carried a sandal like the Kisumu to complete the line. An amazing job and fashion styling update. The price just as beautiful and bountiful. I will be using these as well with the Magnetic Hula Hoop.
