Solid Flat Pedal/Clipless Bike Shoes
I need some light duty flat pedal bike shoes and found these as perfect pair.Inner sole is comfy for 3+ hours ride. Outer sole is rigid enough to pedal hard. Ergonomic lace location and shoe tongue are plus (all shoes should adapt these desgin features so that we don't need to adjust the shoe tongue frequently!!!).Width is little questionable due to my wierd foot shape (relatively long pinky or very square toe arrangement). Shoes are not narrow, but not wide either. After 3-4 months of break-in, it is little better now. Just beware this since some people might feel discomfort.Size is 43 EUR, US 9 3/4, 277mm. Since I own two other Fizik shoes, finding my size was not so challenging, but yes, it was difficult to find the correct one (returned twice before fully understanding its size metrics).I am using flat pedals primarily. I would add shoe SPD plugs to cover the bottom, but might not be necessary if you are not planning to hike any trails with these on.Overall, these are awesome bike shoes with option of clipless attachment. Highly recommended!!! Safe Riding!!!------------Updated March 30, 2025 - comparing Ergolace with my other Fizik shoes:Fizik Terra Clima X2 - size 43.5EU, 10 and a quarter US, 280mm- Best for: Moderate conditions (between harsh and mild weather).- Materials: Reinforced toe and heel; advertised as waterproof, though ankle water ingress is an issue.- Fit: Slightly tighter than Artica; works well with regular socks.- Design: Velcro strap and BOA fastener (no zipper); easier to wear than Artica.- Room for Improvement: Ankle waterproofing—gaiters are a must for wet situation.Fizik Terra Artica X2 - size 43.5EU, 10 and a quarter US, 280mm- Best for: Bitter cold conditions (not extreme sub-zero Fahrenheit).- Materials: Reinforced toe and heel; wetsuit-like material keeps feet warm and waterproof.- Fit: Challenging to get into—requires a sturdy steel shoe horn for easier entry. Comfortable fit once on, great with merino wool ski socks and overshoes.- Design: Velcro strap, BOA fastener, and side zipper; feels solid yet not overly heavy for winter.- Room for Improvement: Could use better sub-zero performance and easier entry.Hope this would help future buyer.
