Great Classic Shoes

I have been wearing Florsheim Lexington Wingtip for about 10 years (and I get two years out of them). The black are a classic design that I can wear from anything from a Tuxedo to slacks with a polo. Plus, the wingtip design requires less shining (because I am lazy). At this price point, they are a great value for a high quality shoe. There has been some historical minor variation in the quality. My previous pair did have the heal fall off, but I glued it back on without issue. But my most recent pair had a stronger heal secured by nails. The body is the same, but the laces are upgraded. I am so pleased. I typically wear a 10M, but I should have probably ordered a 9.5M because I think that they run a bit large.

I can SEE MYSELF in the finish!!

Not entirely what I was expecting. It's been a few years since I had Florsheim shoes and wanted black wingtips before starting a new job in a few days. The Florsheim I remember was better quality. They almost look like patent leather they're so shiny... Almost. I guess that could be OK as it seems like less polishing will be needed. They were a bit snug when I put them on the first time an hour ago... Need to break them in by Monday... But already have softened up and feeling pretty damn comfy. At least the fit is like old Floresheim. We will see about the rest.--------------5 months later ... These have met all, expectations and bumping it up to 5 stars. I wear the hell out of them.. They're glove soft on the inside.. Now looking for a brown pair.

Odd fit

The shoes seemed to be just what I wanted. Looked like a well built pair of wing tips like I usually wear. I wish they fit correctly.I know that I struggle to find shoes that fit since I'm a wide (EE) foot. With everything going online, I can't find wide shoes in stores anymore. This was my first attempt at ordering shoes instead of buying in store. I pulled them out of the box. I put on fresh dress socks. Unlaced the shoes and couldn't even get them on. The opening was so small, it seemed like it was still laced. I got a shoe horn and tried since I thought maybe it was the shape and stiff leather. Barely got it on and went to the next. Once both were on, it felt like lacing them up made no difference to the fit. The shoe was loose on my foot and I had a lot of heal lift. I only took 5ish steps to my room and walked right back to the couch. It that short distance I knew I would have terrible rubbing and blisters. I gave the 4 stars because they looked very sharp and well built. And I know I have odd sized feet. But I used to always go into a store and find wide shoes that fit. So my guess is this brand may not be good for wide feet, but maybe great for a more "standard" sized foot. That was the reason I took off one star.

Nice Shoe

I might be jumping the gun here, since this is the first day of wearing these, but I am excited by the comfort and look of these things. I was a little worried when I tried them on because it was all I could do to get them on (so stiff). Plus they seemed to hurt my ankles a bit. Well, here it is several hours into the first day, and I have to say, they feel good already! I've been strolling around the office at every opportunity and they get better every time! I figured it would take at least a week, especially since the ones they are replacing were about 25 years old, obviously pretty well molded to my feet. I am pretty easy on shoes, so hopefully won't have any of the wear issues others have mentioned. I hope I get 25 years out of these, because they look great.

They don't make them like they used to.

I had an identical pair of Florsheim wingtips for years and years and years. When the time finally came to retire them, I didn't hesitate ordering the same shoe in the same size.Sadly, they fall far short of what they used to be.They fit fine, wore in nicely, and then they just kept wearing down. After about a month of regular use (a work shoe that was in service any day that wasn't a brown day) the deadly squeak began. I thought I had done something horribly wrong until I read the other reviews with a similar problem. Not a little squeak, mind you. A looong, grating, old-door-slowly-opening-in-a-horror-movie squeak. It was plainly embarrassing to wear them. And they just started looking like garbage. Creases are to be expected, but they multiplied and deepened and even started flaking a little with remarkable speed. The sole was already wearing down to the lining after only a few months. Even without the noise they were not long for this world.Which is too bad. After six months they looked worse than my previous pair had after six years. Eventually I sucked it up and shelled out for a pair of Allen Edmonds, and found the quality I missed.Sorry to see you go, Florsheim.

materials aren't the same quality as before

My old pair of Florsheim wingtips are pretty old now, maybe 20 years old. Still in good shape, very comfortable, very well made. I was getting worried that they'd fall apart on me, so I bought what I thought was a replacement. The current model has very little real leather in it, feels cheap and not nearly as comfortable as my old pair.
