Shoes... That Mimic A Famous Pedigree
Folks, these blue patent leather, blue sequin covered, gold buckled, rubber soled, dancing shoes... immediately put me in the mind of the iconic Michael Jackson "Billie Jean" video from 1983.As a matter of fact, after that video was released, sequin covered loafers became a regular staple in Michael Jackson's extravagant wardrobe choices. Shoes similar to these were seen worn by him in numerous public appearances and performances.So, they are not slip on and walk over to the supermarket shoes. Nor are these "let's go for a quick run" shoes. No, these are most definitely, "I am going out dancing... and making a statement"... shoes!I love to dance, there are few things which are more freeing to the human spirit than catching a vibe, grabbing the beat, and allowing your body to freely move in time with the music... In whatever style you call your own. No one needs to be a good dancer in order to dance, just dance... It's good for you.These sequin covered shoes are not merely costume shoes, but actually quality wearable shoes. I utilized the sizing chart when ordering and I have found them to be of appropriate size for my feet (with a little extra room in the front by the toe, which I favor). I ordered size 11 and on the sizing chart this would be size 46 which is exactly what I received.The soles of these shoes, although thick and strong enough to give one adequate support (with very high quality shown in both appearance and their manufacture) still will feel "smooth and glidey" on a dance floor. A nod should also be given to the intricate design on each shoe's sole. In terms of the sole quality, I like to think of it this way... They put a lot of effort and time into something that most likely will never be seen by anyone, other than the wearer. That is, in my opinion, attention to detail.Although I have clearly stated that "I believe" these are shoes for going out on the town and perhaps doing some dancing; on the product page description, one of the suggested uses for these shoes is mentioned as... "driving".I would just like to say that I found that a humorous descriptive. Anything could have been substituted for the word "driving" if they were choosing such a simplistic activity for shoes that are this fancy and flashy. "These make wonderful shoes for gardening or vacuuming as well"... They don't, they won't, these are shoes designed for a specific function... In my opinion.So, overall I am impressed with the quality of the shoes and the look of the shoes. I am already making plans for an evening out... for a "moonwalk" test drive.Now, with all that having been said, you may have noticed that I chose not to give these shoes five stars but rather four stars. I am certain that with a glowing review such as you have read thus far, you may be questioning why I docked these shoes one star.I have an unfortunate answer. I actually received one new shoe, and one used shoe. If you look through my photos you will see it is very obvious one of the shoes I received has definite wear marks on the sole and also slight damage on the front toe area on the top.This is absolutely apparent and in stark contrast to the other shoe. The used shoe also is slightly wider than the new shoe. This also leads one to believe it had been worn by someone, in order to acquire the wear on the front, bottom and to conform to a larger foot than my own.Okay, I can understand that a serviceable shoe was chosen to make up the pair that was sent to me. I'm not thrilled about this. I'm certain no one would be. But I'm not going to disuse these shoes either. I closely examined the interior sole of the shoe that I believe is used... and most definitely the interior of the shoe, the foot-bed is new. That is of paramount importance to me.So, although I feel as if I drew the short straw with regard to these shoes. I still really like them and have full intention of using them. But I cannot in good faith give five stars as a result. I don't personally think this is the best practice, to repurpose one shoe in a pair.Recommended... (with some caution)
