Sturdy & Supportive Yet Flexible & Comfortable!
This being my first pair of motorcycle boots, I have nothing other than trying on others in a gear shop to compare it to, but I can't imagine a better boot for the riding we do. I dig the style, but first and foremost, they're comfortable. The straps are fiddly the first few times you wear them, but once you get them adjusted to your feet, you click right in. The boots are supportive, but the "hinge" allows plenty of ankle movement for shifting and braking. Admittedly, it takes a little getting used to over hiking boots, and I would mash the brake pedal WAY too hard at first, but a few rides around the neighborhood remedied that. On the trail, I was happy to have them, especially since my offroad riding style is primarily falling over. Not once did I get a ding on the shin from my footpegs! One major event happened where I keeled over to the downhill side of the trail at an insane ZERO miles per hour. My leg was stuck between the bike and a log, while I casually reclined in the weeds and admired the clouds. While waiting for my wife to catch up and rescue me, I observed that the boots had prevented any injury to my leg. I was happy to have them. I can't see riding without them.

My 4E wide feet fit! Great boots… saved my heel
UPDATE: Saved my heel!I ! I just took an off-road riding class we’re just about everyone dropped their bike a few times in slow speed low tractionmaneuvers. On one slow speed fall, I could not get my foot out from under the bike before it went down, and the weight of the bike landed on my heel, pinning me under the motorcycle. I felt nothing as the sole and heel of the boots, supported the weight of the bike!! (yes another rider had to help me lift the bike to get out from under it)Wow, I can get my 12 1/2 , 4E wide feet into these and it feels comfortable. The large wide toe box is a big help. Just purchased I’ve not tried them much, but they appear to fit very well offering protection for my ankle and possibly shins.

Great for LARGE CALVES!!!
Boots arrived today after returning two other pair of boots. The first pair also fit my calves 17.75”, but I didn’t like the way they closed…the buckle & strap couldn’t close flush, so I felt that was a future problem waiting to happen. The 2nd pair was too difficult to engage the latches, and way too stiff. Both pairs were entry level less than $160 each. The first pair had fairly high reviews, and the 2nd ones were just a tad lower. Both were in the 70’s for reviews.I’m getting back into riding and decided to bite the bullet after the first two experiences and stepped up to these Gaerne’s after some videos and their reputation for quality boots.Unboxing they are a very handsome pair of boots…especially with the leather.I did have to let out the straps and adjust the buckles to make them easier to put on. The buckle design almost makes it a one handed task to strap in. Probably will be one handed after I get used to them. Once on, I couldn’t believe how comfortable and flexible they were at the ankles. I was able to easily bend and walk forward with no noticeable lateral movement.I also like the tread designed sole being that I know I’ll be doing some walking around when out and about.Only disappointment was they’re still not large enough to accommodate the Leatt knee/shin guards I ordered and will be returning. I thought I read that they could accommodate up to 20” calves, so I had hope that the guards would fit.I’ll be keeping these just based on looks, comfort and the right flexibility to make them safe.👍🏾

Very safe and comfortable boot for from riding around the house to sub pro MX racing.
Size 10.5 USA was true to size. My last pair lasted me 15 years. These were comfortable right out of the box. Easy to walk in for this type of protection. Raced in district 13 , 35 + class for 5 years and many hair scrambles and never had a foot injury but many other broken bones other places. I did do my homework on mid to high level MX boots and still decided to go with these. Most of the other brands look to be subbed out for manufacture but these are made in Italy with old school type heavy duty stitching. I can’t find anything on them that is glued. These are pretty much water proof up to about a foot of water.

Good boots but where's size 10.5 / UE 45?
Great boot for just about all adventure bike riding and off-road/enduro.To me they feel like they have just slightly less crush protection than the Tech 7's with trade off being their outside circumference at the upper is smaller than Tech 7 and these fit under my Alpinestar outside-the-boot pants. These also let you bend your foot more so climbing and walking feels more normal in these.Minus 1 star for size 10.5 US / 45 EU not being readily available here in the US. I had to order mine direct from Italy. For size comparison, size 10.5 US in these has same inside length as size 10 in the Tech 7's, but with wider footbox than the Tech 7's.The length on Gaerne website seems to be accurate and these fit same as their SG12's so if you can't find these in stock, try on the SG12 and these should fit the same.

I love these boots
These boots are awesome. Absolutely awesome. They fit to size, are a bit wider in the foot (which I need), and are beasts of a boot.Of the four clasps, one is for the 'fastback' achillies brace. You can simply 'un-clasp' that one, and this allows you to walk around with good foot/ankle movement. Lock the clasp back down and the boot tightens up and prevents much ankle movement. This allows you to have all the protection when you're riding, but can un-clasp it when you're walking around. If you're coming from a standard leather street boot, then this (like all enduro boots) really prevents you from 'feeling' anything. So the subtle pressure on the brake or shifter lever that you could feel through street boots is gone. This can cause you to unintentionally and unknowingly have constant pressure on the shifter lever, or (worse) on the rear brake. So be conscious of this, keep the balls of your feet on the pegs, and only move your feet/toes to the controls when you need, then get them back to the pegs.Friggin awesome boots.
