I've worn these boots for a year now, on hard surfaces, averaging 50+ hours each week, and I'm a heavy guy. The tread on the bottom isn't half as worn as I would have expected. The leather has held up well also, and the zippers. After a year, these boots just need a new insole, and I'm confident I'll get another year from them at least.
My experience with Garmont started with the T8 NFS. I recently started a new job that required black leather so jumped on these when I saw them. The fit is very similar to the NFS, and the side zip adds convenience, so far so good, they are also lightweight and the quality is typical high Garmont standard. So far so good. I wore them for my first shift and found the weakness. I have rucked miles on rough terrain in the NSFs and they felt awesome. These just walking around a high school for 10,000 steps andthe soles of my feet felt positively beaten up. When I got home I inspected the insoles and found that while they existed they were little more than paper. I immediately ordered a pair of Keen insoles and the difference is night and day. I don't know why they didn't just stick with the NFS foundation and change the upper. 3 stars because you shouldn't have to get after market insoles out of the gate to be comfortable.
So far I am very pleased with these tactical boots from Garmont.I ordered size 11, which is my usual size, and the boots fit me very well. I'd say they run true to size, perhaps slightly larger than my usual size 11 shoes and boots. The little bit of extra room isn't so much that they slip or feel uncomfortable, basically they provide a little extra room in the toebox, which is great.The boots seem to be well constructed, but are still surprisingly lightweight - just a touch over 600 grams for size 11.The zipper may be polarizing to some, but personally I love it. The zipper is premium quality, and makes getting in and out of the boots fast and easy.The boots are comfortable, even wearing them all day long. They are breaking in nicely after only about 20 hours of wear time, and are becoming more comfortable with each wear.Note that these boots, while water resistant, are NOT waterproof. This isn't a big deal to me, but it's something worth mentioning for those who require a true waterproof boot.Overall these boots are great value for the money, and should last for many years. Buy with confidence.
I got these to use when I am out and about as I like the look of tactical boot with my jeans and khakis. These boots are well made, but feel really light compared to what I would expect. They fit my feet well and feel comfortable, though. I am not sure how they will stand the test of time, but I expect them to last a good while, considering their price point. These are not cheap boots, but they are well made with quality materials befitting of the price these go for.One of my chief complaints about them though is the side zipper is kinda useless in my use. I have found that even if I use the zipper, the boot doesn't loosen enough to come off my foot. I have to untie the boots no matter what, going on or coming off. To me, that kinda defeats the purpose of having a side zipper on your boots. What's the point of zipper if they don't allow easy in easy out wearability?Overall, though, I really like the boots and wear them fairly often, They give a style that doesn't compare to any of my other footwear. I feel that the product is good and worth the cost of these, which again is fairly steep for what they are. Don't be put off by the lack of weight of these. They are well made tactical boots designed for professionals. If they can stand up to professional use, they'll take whatever I can throw at them!
I'm really impressed with these so far, which I'm using as riding boots for motorcycle season. They're nice and comfortable and the stitching/assembly seem tight. As with most boots, you're going to want to buy a larger size than you need. I grabbed a full size bigger than my shoe size, and they fit perfectly. They're pretty light for the protection they provide, and they've got a good style for them. I really have no complaints.
So my initial review, these were incredibly good. But recently, issues have been cropping up. The tabs have started to fray apart like cheap ripstop. I wear them daily for work, but it doesn't inspire confidence so soon after buying these that the strap to close over the zipper is already freyed apart.
These are super comfortable out of the box. I’m not an easy fit usually but I was pleasantly surprised that these fit so well and they are very lightweight too. The canvas sides are breathable but strong. The leather is high quality as well. Love the zipper. If I had wanted anything different I would say having lace hoops towards the top would be nice. But not necessary.
