A little larger than expected
First of all, the last 4 pairs of work boots I have bought were Georgia boots, their Athens steel-toed model. These have been really good boots, holding up to the damage that I do to them very well. The last pair that I bought started to feel as if the edge of the steel toe was pushing down or squeezing my toe after about 12 hours so I decided to try something different. Georgia boots have been holding up very well under the abuse that I give them, so I decided to try a different model. After a lot of deliberation, I settled on this model. I've been wearing them for over a week now and I thought I'd write a review of my experience with them so far.Right away, I noticed they fit looser than the same sized boots in the Athens model. I wear size 10 in everything, but these boots were definitely more loose than I expected. I added my extry insoles, DR Sholes inserts for knee pain, and that took up some of the slack. The first day I wore them, one of my socks kept slipping down. The top of the boot is very stiff and it started to create some uncomfortable areas on my bare skin, which turned red by the end of the day. If your socks stay up, this won't be an issue. Those are basically the only things I can find fault with. These boots are very comfortable. They really make your feet feel good. I had a knee replacement about 3 months ago, so I was looking for a boot that would take up a lot of the impact from walking on concrete all day and these boots do that. If I were to buy them again, I would order a half size smaller, but other than that, they are great. I've tested them out in the water and have found that they are indeed waterproof. They breathe well so even though they are waterproof, my feet don't sweat in them.Bottom line, I am glad I purchased these and if they hold up in a year's time as well as the Athens have, I will probably buy them again.
