Awesome shoes - with or without clips !!

These shoes are awesome ! I am NOT an avid biker, however I played one this past week (Ragbrai in Iowa). 135 miles in two days. All I have is flat pedals on a Trek 7.3. I was having trouble with my foot instep cramping with my tennis shoes. These are much stiffer and solved the problem. I am a mens 8.5 D / wide. I bought size 43. They are a little long and a little narrow for my wide feet but as stated, they did the trick. Easy to walk on - relative to biking shoes and comfy. I've read about a million reviews and I'm here to say - for flat pedals (no clips) bike shoes are WAY worth it. OBTW - these are built for clips, just not mandatory. And to all the bike geeks out there - maybe clips next year. Small steps :)

Mens size 43. No fit issues.

I read about the size issue some reported. Reading between the lines, it seemed like those who ordered by American sizing had problems and those who ordered based on their European sizing did ok. I wear Ecco shoes daily so I kno my European size is 43. I decided to go for it. The shoes I received fit perfectly. They are good looking and comfortable so far. I just got them and haven't ridden on them yet. I don't think I will have any problems, but if anything comes up I'll add it to this review.Good shoes. If you know your European size you'll probably be ok.

Snug, stiff, master of none

TL;DR If you're looking for the perfect shoe to serve both as a great hiking shoe and a good cycling shoe, it doesn't exist. If you simply want improved everyday walk-around capability after commuting on two wheels, these fit the bill perfectly.Purchased these shoes looking for the goldilocks option that would allow both comfortable mid-length road riding and hiking on loose surfaces alike. This shoe attempts to do just that, and to mixed results. When it comes to the cycling aspect, the Giro with SPD pedals was very similar to more conventional road Giro shoes I've used previously. It has an internal shank to stabilize the entire foot while applying pedal force under load, similar to more conventional road shoe designs. However, the cleats can shift laterally under load and loosen their mounting bolts, so I'd recommend applying blue threadlocker to avoid this and maintain consistent cleat-to-pedal fit. When it comes to the walking/hiking aspect, the inherent limitations of some of the cycling-requisite features become apparent. The shank prevents any meaningful articulation of the ball of the foot typical of downhill descent (while hiking), degrading the walking experience. Additionally, though recessed, the SPD cleat on the bottom noticeably decreases grip on loose/complex surfaces. On smooth, regular surfaces, these shoes feel close to normal sneakers with slightly lower flex.Fit is snug, especially with laces running all the way up. I swapped conventional laces for elastic lace locks immediately after purchasing, which I recommend. The shoe is almost too snug, so if you want your feet to breathe, I recommend lacing to only below the top few rows.As a commuting round-town convenience, these are great. Even for walking into restaurants/grocery stores/gas stations on mid to long rides, these do quite well. As a dual-purpose hiking/cycling shoe, try elsewhere and let me know if you find anything.

Very comfortable and well put together. Sized correctly.

I have always been happy with Giro shoes for my road bikes (16 Years) this is my first go with a MTB shoeand I have hard to fit feet. Due to a break 40 years ago my right foot is larger than my left. I ordered the same size 45 MTB shoe the "Giro Rumble" that I have bought for my road bike shoes and they areperfect. Once again Giro didn't let me down.So comfortable in fact that I haven't taken them off since receiving them hours ago.I may buy another pair for church. (joke)I kid you not, these are excellent shoes.I will use the for spin class when the weather is bad and feel totally comfortable wearing themto lunch afterwards. The only thing I don't understand is what the heck is the difference between 45 and 45 EU.If you look at the Q&A on this site you'll see that I asked that question and the seller hasn't answered. There is no answer. Yet when youorder the shoe here you have to choose 45 or 45 Eu or any other size has with or without EU.I got the straight 45 without the EU and I'm happy. ( I suspect that they are both the same )

perfect fit. perfect function. they passed the test.

I have owned several pairs of cycling shoes like Pearl Azumi and AXO including regular day to day versions with spd compatibility like the Chrome Kursk 2.0. but none have ever compared to the fit, comfort, and perfect versatility the GIRO Rumble offers. I would highly recommend trying them on in store if you have the chance. I bought a size bigger as many reviewers suggested and felt the toe length was just a hair too big after one test run on a Keiser M3 spin bike. I went really light on them too. I bought them using 2 day prime and got a size smaller and in the color i actually wanted. they fit perfectly. provide ample wiggle room without compromising on the skid stops (fixed gear cyclist) and popping out of my pedals. they feel absolutely amazing on the floor and i actually used them for day to day use and found they are quite comfy after a long 8 to 9 mile ride. the laces are very long however and i have to tuck them inside the shoes. i will be purchasing some shorter laces to avoid getting them caught in my bike parts when mashing fixed gear. the vibram soles are just too bouncy and grippy. you really have to feel the difference vs other "performance" shoes.GIRO has guaranteed fit and these are going to last me a very long time. i will happily purchase another pair in about 6 months in another color in this exact size. i have used 4 different types of socks for commuting. dress. cycling. athletic. and ankle. all performed amazing with no ankle / heel rub. i have heard from other they are not waterproof or water resistant but havent had any type of rain rides or rainy weather to compare.if you are looking for an amazing shoe that fits and performs like a cycling shoe without breaking the bank. i highly recommend these
