Lace-ups just work better!

No BOA or Velcro strap can top the comfort and fit of a solid lace-up cycling shoe, and these work very well! The captive elastic strap with leatherette pull tab lets you stow the laces safely. These rugged bike shoes fit my feet like my gloves fit my hands. In my world of long-distance and multi-day road cycling events foot-comfort is the thing that translates to sustained speed on the road bike and these shoes bring that result. I use the Shimano SPD (mountain bike) system on the road bike for max reliability, ruggedness and ease of use a cyclist needs for all day rides or multi-day events. These shoes and cleat system let one walk about the rest stops on 60-mile-plus events without tottering about on one's heels. You can portage a bike over an unexpected downed tree or other obstacle in the road in such shoes with confidence (endurance roadies know this is a thing!). This gravel shoe is a great endurance roadie solution. If one needs the 4-6 watts of extra power from true roadie aero shoes and wide cleats I guess one must accept the cruel fit, awkward surface mobility and $$$$ price. Otherwise you have found your shoe here. I wear a US mid-wide size 13 and having tried both Euro size 47 and 48 in hard cranking action, I can vouch for the fact that the 48 is needed in Giro brand for my feet. The brand calls this a US "13.5". So maybe think in terms of testing a half-size larger than your US standard if offered.

Runs small

I’ve had a couple other Giro shoes over the years and they all run small, this one is no exception. I am typically an EU46 but in Giro I’m always an EU48. As long as you keep that in mind, these are great shoes.I use these for just about every type of riding I do. They aren’t great for casual wear like some of the more casual Giro shoes but they’re perfect for rides with the occasional hike-a-bike section. In fact, they’re comfortable enough that I probably wouldn’t mind having to walk quite a ways in them. The hard composite sole just makes them noisy on hard surfaces.

Nice shoe, bad laces

Great shoe, fits true to size, nice shoe that is reasonably stiff but still good for getting off the bike to walk/hike.Only reason for 4 stars is the shoelace ripped when I was pulling them tight to tie them after only about a month of getting them!

Dope cleats.

Couldn't be happier. Glad ai didn't size up. 44 is a 10.5 in Giro sizes. Usually 10.5 is 44.5. Not the case w Giro! Great fit. Just climbed 2,000ft on my CX bike in these tonite. 💪🏽

Nice shoes for the price

I thought I'd save some about $100 buying these instead of the Empires for commuting. Giro claims the only difference is the sole, where the Empires have carbon fiber, these have plastic.Consistent with that, the only real difference I have noticed is that the soles do not feel as stiff as the Empires. It's something you might notice when you're out of the saddle to push over a hill, but commuting is not a race. Same wonderful comfortable shape of the sole and uppers as the Empires. I could wear these all day as my every day shoes.Nice touches: the cleats are recessed enough so that you do not clickety-clack when walking. And there is a nice elastic band to hold the laces in place so that they don't get caught in your chain.

Really nice shoe for MTB and Road

Very comfortable. I'm using these to replace FiveTen Trailcross. The Giro's aren't as comfortable when off the bike but they aren't bad. Much stiffer and feel great out of the box. Have about 100 miles on them and will consider them again when/if they get worn out. Laces make fitting easy.

Great shoes for the money

I really like the fit and style of these shoes. They seem plenty stiff while riding. Not really all that flexible off the bike but better than walking in a three bolt patterned shoe. The hard part is dialing in the sizing. Just know that you may need to order a whole or half size smaller than street shoe size.
