Efficient, budget-friendly spd shoes
Fit was perfect. I normally wear a size 8.5, so the 42 works as expected. No Hotspot, no rubbing. There was a review that mentioned the tongue rubbing on the front part of your ankle. It was noticeable in the beginning but it softened the more I rode with the shoes. Now, I don't even notice it. Maybe it just needed more time to break in. There was a smell to it when I first gotten the shoes. However, this odor is slowly going away. Again, it's one of those factors that are self limiting as time goes by. Overall, these shoes are excellent, with the sale price as bonus. Lighter than my Shimano Spds.

great shoes
these have been great for me. i have about 400 miles on them. coming from road shoes, i have the cleats pushed all the way forward but that’s just me. the fit is great, stiff sole, and nothing coming loose. the top strap is a little high. i tend to point my toes too much so i don’t notice it but one reviewer trimmed out the top of the upper strap, that’s the only thing i see.

Great quality, tight fit.
For the price point, you can’t beat the quality of the construction. My only gripe, and this is personal preference, is that there is not a whole lot of wiggle room within the shoe for adjustment. I am an average size 10 1/2, not wide, not in a row, but my foot is pretty snug in these with the straps only moderately tight. I guess I’m saying I wish that they had made the uppers slightly roomier to allow for a little bit more adjustment all the way around. I wouldn’t want to size up because then I end up with way too much room in the toebox. If my current player wears out, I would definitely consider buying them again. That being said, I anticipate using these for years.

Overall great !!! Comfortable
My current pair of cycling shoes were not comfortable on multi day rides so decided to try these based on the reviews. They are very comfortable; I just rode 125 miles over a long weekend, and I've worn them a total of 6 times so far. I was holding off on the review until I could wear them on consecutive days. They fit perfect for me 1/2 size up. I bought a size 13, and received the UK 37, had to do a return and get the 13.5 (38). I would say the 13.5 is a true 13 as far as sizing. They breath well. I am 6'2" and 240 pounds. I can put a lot of force into my pedals, I would say they are stiff enough for the riding I do, which is mainly touring / recreational / fitness. I like something I can walk in, so I use SPD pedals and shoes with a recessed mount. One reviewer trimmed the top strap which was digging into the top of his foot/ankle. I had the same problem, but just loosened the strap. Will consider trimming it if need be. Nothing is perfect for everyone, overall fit/comfort is excellent so far. Performance is very good. Perhaps a bit stiffer but then I would just buy up a notch and try another Giro. Very happy with these.

good shoe, ran a touch small
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Sweet shoe. Looks nice, reasonably light ans stiff for an inexpensive XC shoe. I ordered my regular size but it was a bit too small across the small three toes, so I'm reordering one size up (a 45 instead of a 44)

Smell issue
Positives first: Great quality, style, color, value for the money. Negatives: This pair of shoes has a wet smell, even though it was Brand New never opened, these shoes have been stored in a damp dark place, I CANNOT get that wet smell out! I washed them with a cleaning wipes, left them out in the sun, left them air out in my garage, smell won't go away! I used them twice, both pairs of socks had to be thrown out after I washed them, my feet after showers has that wet smell. Unfortunately, I'll have to throw them out. Please as a consumer smell the merchandise when buying. It's a shame and a monetary lesson for me.

Giro Rangers are awesome!
I just got these shoes and I’m impressed. I have been mountain biking with clipless pedals for 30 years. I’ve owned some very high end shoes from Shimano, Sidi and Northwave and these fit just as well and feel just as solid. I ride a lot and it’s critical that the soles of my bike shoes be rigid so the cleat does not flex the sole and push into my feet. These are very stiff and that’s perfect. The shape of the treads make them ok to walk in but that’s unimportant as I usually only walk a few feet from my car to my bike and my bike to my car. The rest of them time I’m riding. 10/10, would recommend!
