Garbage
After wondering why my feet were hurting I cut these apart to find out what was going on. Turned out that the makers (Grinders; China NOT England) used size 9 steel toes for their size 11 Heralds. They're stout, strong, stiff, have sticky soles (real tire rubber) and come with Doc type laces. The leather is a half rubber product, but it makes a boot. Tongue is plastic. Footbeds are HARD fiberboard with shanks half the thickness of industry standard, but still steel (rusted slightly before being worn). The castellated welt is thick plastic and solidly stitched down 360°. These are a well built budget boot (if they fit they'll practically hold you up) made from a cast of B grade but serviceable materials. All black, not shiny, but take wax fine. Eyelets are spaced closer than on nearly every other brand, allowing for fine tuning of lace tension And idealizing circulation. I wouldn't buy these again from Amazon. The ad indicates England to be the country of origin, when in fact they are very Chinese right down to the familiar cardboard box stamping. Outsourcing led to the size 11's being too narrow in the toes because poor quality control allowed for size 9 caps to go in the wrong boots. Problem really only becomes apparent after wearing for longer than try-on, thus negating returns. Where does one get English made Grinders? I'm pretty sure they have a greater degree of desirability.
