Very nice shoes really comfortable and a good fit
Seems to be well made. Nice style.
These Gunnar and Troy Axel Men's Dress Shoes are absolutely stunning! The classic brogue oxford design with multi-color leather uppers gives them a standout, high-end look that gets compliments every time I wear them. They're perfect for dressing up a suit or adding flair to a more casual outfit. The cushioned dual-density footbed is a dream—super comfortable for long events or all-day wear, with great support. I was surprised by how lightweight they are for a shoe that feels this solid and well-made.If you're looking for a sharp, eye-catching dress shoe that blends timeless style with modern comfort, this pair is it. They’re stylish without trying too hard, and the quality speaks for itself!
Strong and easy to clean
These shoes are the most uncomfortable shoes ever. They start off OK but the balls of your feet are killing you by midday. Any talk in the description of comfort is bogus.
This is the second pair of Gunnar and Troy shoes I have of this style, they are just as incredible and amazing as the other ones. Cannot recommend highly enough. I'm going to include my review for those shoes here as well, as everything said there applies here.--Review for Brown color--I work at a Hospital, with a general expectation that you dress "nice". (It's a very subjective definition of 'nice' based on what most wear, but I digress.) So I have purchased many a pair of dress shoes. I had more or less come to term with them being uncomfortable to wear, or pinch this part of my foot, or too tight on another part, just suffer the work day and take them off.Not these babies, those are honestly the most comfortable dress shoes I have worn to date, which says something when I'm in my mid 40's. The leather is soft, forming, and comfortable. It isn't hard on your foot if you kneel down or when walking. There aren't annoying pressure points. It fits like a comfortable glove. Typically this would be slight more than I would want to spend on a pair of work shoes, but after wearing them for couple weeks, worth every freaking penny! And for an extra bonus, the insole is designed so that it is easily removable. It's not glued in. You can slip it in and out just like that. Now the insole that it comes with is very comfortable, the heel gel is a tad odd but get used to it quick enough. But if you have a personal favorite set of insoles to use in shoes, not a problem, just slide them in. (I'd give the included ones a fair try though, they're comfy). Or when the originals wear out, easy swap.--Extra note: I won't be brand hopping when I need another pair of shoes, I'm going straight to Gunnar and Troy to check out what they have. The price is a bit higher than I prefer, but all around worth it.
I have worn leather oxford dress shoes five days a week for the past 40+ years of my working life. I’ve had everything from shoe store brands like Florsheim, Thom McAn, and Bostonian, high-end department store brands from the likes of Marshall Field’s, Carson Piere Scott, and Macy’s, low end department store brands from Sears and J.C. Penney and even tried shoes from mall places like DSW and Shoe Carnival. In most cases fit, comfort, quality of materials and construction, and longevity went hand in hand with cost. The more you paid, the better the shoe. These Gunnar and Troy plain toe oxfords remind me very much of what I would get from an upscale department store. However, the price point is much closer to a mass market retailer making them a very good value.Have had them about a month now and worn them about half a dozen times (I rotate my dress shoes so they air out and last longer). The leather was not overly stiff out of the box and has broken in nicely. The rubber sole is sturdy without being stiff and provides good traction. On a 1 to 10 scale (with 10 being exceptionally comfortable and 1 being too painful to wear) I would rate these shoes a 7.5 – 8.0.Internally, the shoe has a gel pad heal as part of the insole which feels a little odd at first but has become less noticeable with multiple wearings. The insole is removable so you can substitute in your favorite brand of insole if you prefer or use the extra insoles included with the shoes.I have a wide foot and normally wear a size 11. Since these shoes do not offer the option of wide sizing, I went up to a size 12. Glad I did. The 12 fit snug but not tight. The black leather uppers were not as shiny as portrayed in the listing photos – more of a satin sheen than a hard shine. Looks good on the plain toe style of the shoe. Not that you could find anyone to do the work (or that it would be worth the expense) but these shoes cannot be re-soled. It is too early to rate the durability/longevity of the show or its materials. If problems develop or it does not last as long as I would expect a shoe at this price point to last I will update this review accordingly.Considering all the above, these shoes are a solid 4 to 4.25 star item. They are perfect if you need presentable dress shoes to wear for special occasions as they look more expensive than they are.
