very comfortable and waterproof for hiking in the PNW ... even use snow shoeing on the days that are heavy boots are not needed on groomed trails.
This is my second pair of the Hoka hiking shoe. The first pair I bought and used every day, in the rain, snow and hot summer for a 2-4 mile hike with my dog. The padding finally started to compress after 8 months! They took a licking and kept on ticking! I just got my second pair and they are more waterproof than my old pair (in which my feet never got wet or cold), I put them on and off we went. I did not have to break them in and they are lightweight, supportive and cute. Love Hoka shoes, well worth the money.
I love these shoes! Hoka was recommended to me by my physical therapist and normally I would never pay more than $125 for a pair of shoes, but after wearing them I understand the price. They are definitely worth it. I just wish Hoka would make some with composite toes for work in a warehouse. That would save workers so much foot pain and blisters.
This is a long overdue review. After owning these for less than a month,2 of the eye hooks popped off the right shoe. My error, I’m sure they would have replaced them, but my size was not available, so I kept them. My jeans held the tongue in place good enough.I don’t even wear them once a month, but now the sole on right shoe is falling off! This was my 2nd pair of HOKA’s, not sure if I’d spend the money. I am still wearing my Keens after 17 years.!!If they were replaced, my review would totally change. I’ve referred too many friends onto Hokas.
I have 2 pairs of the older version Speedgoat Mid GTX, which are absolutely stellar! So, thought I'd try this boot, expensive as heck, but, they're Hokas, which aren't cheap. Ok, gave them a walk with midweight wool hiking sox. Within 20 minutes, my left big toe was in pain, it was jammed up against end of boot. Check right big toe and it was about 1/4" further back, cramped a bit but not hurting (yet). I am a Kiwi, so will always try Kiwi gear b4 other brands. That said, these boots do not look as well made as my Speedgoats At All. Sometimes when companies want to change things up, it screws things up that were Good and Solid to begin with..sad to say, but wake up, Hoka One One, Get Back to what you were Brilliant at!Arohanui, Stell
The boots I have been looking for my whole life.! They are the best! They are just as comfortable as my Hoka running shoes. The Gore-Tex keep my feet dry and they are lightweight.
Great winter hiking boots!! Good traction on slick surfaces. Only one issue - not a fan of the plastic lace hooks - can’t be in a hurry to get them on.
