GREAT BOOTS !!
I have wide feet. Size 8.5 W. The women's size 9 in the tall Hunter boots with the gusset in the back fit absolutely perfect. Not a lot of arch support, but there is enough room in the boot to put a supportive insole into them. They are very comfy with the insoles and I'm very picky about comfort. LOVE the gusset in the back, making the calf space wide enough for my extra wide calves, even with pants tucked in. Very hard for me to find rubber boots that would fit over my calves. Previously had to use the Muckboot brand with it's stretchy neoprene tops. But those are very stiff, heavy and clunky and hard to move quickly in. These tall Hunter boots with the back gusset are much lighter weight, more flexible, easier to move in, and just perfect for their intended purpose. I'm a dog trainer and I work outdoors often. They are not cold weather boots. If the temp drops below 35 F, they're not warm enough. I wear heavily insulated pac boots in the super cold weather. I am sensitive to the cold. I bought these intending to use them for pond-shore work, rain, mud, brush, tick protection in the lower vegetation. I went to a store and tried on another style of Hunter brand before ordering from Amazon. The local store did not have this style, or I certainly would have preferred to support my small, local business. But Amazon is always a positive experience too. THANK YOU !! PERFECT !!May 2017 Update - Have worn these boots almost daily for over a year now. Sometimes for several hours at a time. (a bit hot and sweaty in the warmer weather, but not nearly as bad as Muckboots.). I slog around in a foot of water & muck pulling cattails out of the pond, I crash through wet weeds and muddy fields training dogs, the occasional stall mucking job for a friend......the boots hose off easily and show no signs of wear. EXCELLENT! I am considering purchasing a "back-up" pair in case Hunter decides to stop making them after they outlive their current "fashion statement status". They are truly an excellent outdoor work boot.

Great Boots Even for High Arched Feet
Love the look and quality of these tall boots! I wear a US size 6 in most shoes and ordered a size 6 in the boots because I wanted to be able to comfortably wear a heavier sock. Mission accomplished! I had no problem getting the boots on while also wearing a skinny jean; however, it was a tugging match trying to get them off due to my high arched feet. This is an issue I’ve had with other boots over the years as well. I purposely ordered the back adjustable boots due to my high arches, and the back gusset undoubtedly helped me to get the boots on and off. They are well made and arrived from London quick as a flash and two days ahead of schedule! Highly recommend!

Nice boots
I bought these because we have a stream on our property and I need to get in it to keep it cleaned out. These boots are good for that. There is little arch support so I wear thick wool socks. There is enough room in the boot for me to do that but if you have a large foot (width or height wise) you may not be able to wear a real thick sock with them.One thing I did notice....they come up to the bend of my knee. Not below or above, just about the middle of it. If you buy these and they come up that far, it makes it hard to drive in them as you leg can't bend as well if the boot is right at the bend of the knee. Just be aware of that.

Beautiful but size down
I'm size 6.5 US in New Balance, Nike, Vans, Converse. I'm a 5.5 in Adidas Samba, Gazelle & Spezial. In Dr Marten i'm size 6 US and any heel shoes I'm typically 7US so.. if this helps you, I bought size US 6 in Hunter boots I can honestly say they are still big for me. Can use them with thick socks and still have a big space. They are also heavy but beautiful. So if anyone was worried about the size, I recommend smaller size than bigger size.

FINALLY, Wide-calf Approved with Appeal!!!
I decided to order a size down based on the mixed reviews but I should've followed the chart this time. My specs: 17 inch calf (yep, measured just for you), I wear size 7 1/2 in Michael Kors Slip-on sneakers and G by Guess sneakers, and I wear size 8 in Jessica Simpson and Christian Siriano heels. I purchased the boots in a size US 7/EU 38/UK 5 in the matte black color. The boots are extremely difficult to take off if your legs/calves are as thick as mine, and after taking them off I had a minor sensation that I still had them on. Disclaimer: I did order a size down, fearful they ran large, so if I had the recommended size 8 I may not have these issues. Now, these rain boots are nothing short of spectacular from my initial observation. I've ordered and returned supposed wide-calf friendly rain boots by Joules and DKSUKO and they were fails compared to Hunter in overall fit. Even a size down, the Hunter boots fit comfortably with a thin sock on, and would be tolerable if I had to keep the size 7. The shaft, ankle and toe box fit perfectly snug without being stifling. FINALLY, a wide-calf boot that fits my thick calves!!! The style is flattering and ideal for a large calf, with room to spread about 2 to 3 more inches, if larger than 17inches. The matte black is beautiful and looks exactly as pictured. The boots feel sturdy but not clunky and have great bend in the ankle. This is an initial review so I can't speak on durability of the material, but we are in hurricane season here in South Florida till November so I'll get to test the material in the elements. I plan to order the size 8 and compare the fit to the 7. Pleasantly surprised!
