Great for hikers looking for stability when hiking in rainy weather or on wet soil. These shoes shed mud, so you can keep your footing on mountain trails. Highly recommend these. I just bought my fifth pair!
Well I was holding out high hopes for this shoe as it seems to be the only shoe in INOV8's new line up that even remotely reflects some of the qualities of the original X-TALON line of trail shoe from what seems to be so long ago now. INOV8 seems have followed suit with all other running shoe makers. I feel like I am back in the 70's when I started running, though the quality of materials and design features are better today, the shoes feel much the same as the shoes of old. They feel like boards strapped to my feet hiding all of the feel of the trail, restricting my ability to feel the trail and weighing more than they need to. What was INOV8 trying to do, cater to the masses of compete with their competition, I really don't know. If they want to go down this path the least they could do is keep one line of shoe for the enthusiast like a X-Talon 200 which is my all time favorite shoe. It is the perfect balance between pain and gain, by that I mean they give just enough protection with great stability, performance, and feel of the trail. I'm 67 years old and I still run over 3,000 miles a year on rough single lane trails, the natural running style of the X-Talon 200's have allowed me to protect my body and continue running daily. If the Mud Talon Speed is the best type of shoe I can expect in the future it will be the last shoe I buy from INOV8, and I am truly sorry to have to say that as I really did think the X-Talon 200's were the best shoe available.Well, with just 5 months of use, these shoe are done. A month or so after buying one of the shoes toe inside rubber laminate started to separate from the shoe. It rubs the top of my toe every time I'd run. Now both shoes toe box have completely separated from the sole. This is just another reason not to purchase INOV-8's any more.I am so disappoint in the changes this company has made to the shoe lines and the poor quality. This was an iconic brand and my go to for all sports. Now I am sure that it will be the last experience I will ever have with them.
So comfortable, I went back to buy a second pair and they're sold out as of this writing. Definitely snagging a second pair for all-round use.
They seem to be a half size small.Luckily, I expected that when I ordered them.They do seem to be made well. I have used these in 3 events so far and I’m very pleased with them.
Bought these a month before the Mt Marathon Race in Seward, AK and they were perfect. New mountain running/hiking shoe
I use these shoes for my daily walk up and down my driveway (1/4 mile round trip with steep driveway). I love the light weight of the shoe and the big “grippy” lugs on the treads. But…Issue 1: tread separation after only a few wears (pic).Issue 2: cannot get my heel to “lock in” the shoe. So my heel has a tendency to slip. This would prevent me from using these shoes in longer distances.Bummer because other than these 2 issues they are great shoes!
Too high of stack height causes the shoe to roll underneath your foot on steep side hills. Not a good fell running shoe as marketed. Inov8 used to make good fell running shoes but no longer. They had it figured out 10 years ago but some reason they are now making shoes that are like every other big name manufacturers. Bring back real fell running shoes like the 2016 X-talon 225
