Pretty thin mid sole but good so far

I normally fit a 11.5-12. Last pair of altra mid top were a 12. Had to go to a 12.5 in these to fit a neoprene sock and liner for winter hiking.

great light-weight hiking wear

I live on the edge of a a steep redwood forest. This is the best boot that I have found for hiking in steep hillsides. It is also light in mass and EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE it gets and A+ from me

Great 3 season boots w lightweight/medium weight Smartwool socks (or Damn Tough)

Lightweight waterproof boots. This is my second pair (first pair 4 years old) and wanted to be sure I have a backup pair (the others are near the end but still function well)

Fits well, great grip, but terrible midsole

As everyone says, fits great out of the box the mid height is nice for ankle support and doesn't rub like a lot of boots ive tried. The toe box is wide enough that it doesn't push my toes together and there is added height in said box you normal don't get. Grip is amazing, but that's the main selling point of these boots. Durability I can't comment on yet, nor waterproofing.I will echo what every other person states as the main con: the midsole flat out sucks. You could say there is no midsole cushion, at all and in fact if you were to step on something sharp like a pointy root or jagged rock, you will definitely feel it. the shoe inserts might as well be tossed immediately and I highly recommend using your own, as many people from different websites suggest. At first I thought I found the perfect trail shoe but I think the midsole is just too dang thin to crown these as true winners. For reference, I am 6,4 @ 178.7 lbs; there is not a lot of pressure going on the sole. Came from wearing Topo MT-2 which are worn out now. The search for the perfect trail shoe continues!
