Excellent first time experience with Inov8 shoes
Inov8 shoes are new to me; I recently purchased the Roadfly and the Trailfly, which are similar. Both have a relatively low stack height, and an anatomical shoe last with a wide toebox. I should note that I do not use the Roadfly for running, but for walking and travelling. (For those who aim to run in these, there are a few great Youtube reviewers, from Run Testers to That Fit Friend to It’s Matt B, who have given the shoes a thumbs up.) For my own purposes these are excellent shoes. I really appreciate the overall fit and comfort. One important thing to note is that I went up a half-size. I also purchased the wide version. I appreciate the shoe for its moderate stack height, its Boomerang insole, and the full rubber outsole, which I expect to add to its durability. It’s not the lightest shoe but it’s still pretty light. A few criticisms: if you’re a heavy heel striker, you may find the shoe not too stable. I think the heel-midsole area design could be fine-tuned to offer a bit more stability. Also the heel lock is not the best, although in this regard, the Roadfly is better than the Trailfly. It seems the heel cup is not deep enough. Lastly, for me, I prefer a low-drop shoe, and both the Roadfly and the Trailfly feel that they have a slightly larger drop than the advertised 6mm. I am looking forward to purchasing a Roadfly zero-drop model. Would I buy the Roadfly again? Most definitely! I do wish they would offer some more colourways, and I can’t seem to find an all-black model on Amazon.
