Best boots , they’re super light I work as a laborer and on my feet all day and they’re the perfect boot . They last me about a year this my 4th pair in 5 years . And I don’t think I would ever switch brands , they’re made by red wings but not as expensive as red wings . ALSO I don’t have super wide feet but it’s ALWAYS BETTER TO GET THEM WIDE
So far so good, only been wearing them a few days now so my feet are still getting used to the support level, moved from a hiking type shoe to a work boot hoping to get better support and longevity. The leather is surprisingly soft and pliable right out of the box, they fit well, and they look nice. Had a 12 hour day in them yesterday and my feet weren't the sorest part of my body (walk around on hard surfaces average 7-10 miles a day). If they maintain comfort and hold up, the four star may become a five.Update: 6 months in the four star did become a 5 star. These seem to get more comfortable every day, the leather is pretty supple now, and other than having to get one of them stretched to accommodate a large foot, which is hardly the boots fault, they've been great. Just clean and oil them every three months or so, takes 10 minutes and it keeps the leather from drying out and water resistant. They also look brand new every time you're done, been using the sofsole mink oil, works really well.UPDATE:I've had these boots for about 8 months now and they have broken in very nicely. I did have to get one of them stretched a little (left foot is wider than my right foot), but that was no big deal. I walk around on hard surfaces all day (7-9 miles a day) and these boots have kept my feet in pretty good shape. They are getting close to needing a re-sole and I will definitely do that as opposed to getting a new pair, even thought the price isn't that different the leather has gotten so soft and supple I don't want to get rid of them. I find if you oil them regularly (1-2 months) they stay looking pretty new and supple. Great boot, going to get another pair for my camping and fishing trips.
Great boot have worked with these boots for a year and a half and this will be my second pair. Comfy and the quality of everything is great. The fit is narrow so if you have wide feet try to size up or get the wide foot version. Very confortable boots and i’m on a roof for 8+ hours.
Nice quality boots wearing them today at work for 12 hours with timberland pro insoles and leather laces seem durable lighter than most boots ive althought not the lightest but so far light enough and on the wet cement the slip resistance is solid it slips then grabs right after i land my 2nd step so thats good ill update at the end of the day to let you know how my feet feel. I also went a half size up normal width to allow for an insole.Update after a week and a half they are more comfortable but my toes will rub with an insole which sucks when you walk around on concrete for 12 hours and also i went a half size larger which helped i also never need wide shoes so these do run a tad on the narrow side im hoping they stretch more as i walk and use them they took about a week to break in for me while they get so many rave reviews i have worn boots that are more comfortable than these but i will say the build quality is nice and most likely a better boot for someone with less foot problems than me. So final verdict quality leather boots great look decent comfort the insole that comes with it is better than most but really not that great maybe if you swap your own prescribed insoles they would be better but honestly on there own theres really not a whole lot of shock resistance to give them 5 stars
I recently decided to purchase a pair of work boots. Not wanting to spend too much money on a high priced pair of Red Wings to destroy, I did some research and came across the Irish Setter brand, which is the entry brand for Red Wings. The requirements were that it had to have a Goodyear welt (for durability) and have little to no break in period. These boots check those marks. The leather feels strong but is not uncomfortable. They have been getting more comfortable as I wear them. The insole is fiberboard I believe, covered with a comfortable insert that is removable/replaceable with a new or orthopedic one. Since they are made by Red Wing Shoes, I visited a local store to try them on. They did not have the style I wanted so I purchased them through Amazon. I’m usually a 10 in shoes (although it may vary by a half size) and settled on a 9.5 wide. The toe box is plenty spacious and they are not long to where it looks like I am wearing clown shoes. Overall very impressed. I do wish these had a leather midsole (rather than plastic which could crack) but for the price, the omission is understandable. I have seen several videos on YouTube of these boots being re-soled and modified to have a leather midsole. If these last, I may just purchase a new pair rather than attempting repair. These are stylish but also ready for work right out of the box. The only downside I have encountered is the laces. They seem to have a bit of give after being tied to where I feel they loosen a bit throughout the day. I’m not sure if it’s the way I walk or tie them. I replaced them with leather laces I had and have not had that issue.
I have had multiple pairs over the years. These feel like the same quality as always. The look of the boot with the Irish Setter logo is what I like most about the boot.
