Fit perfectly. Great quality materials and construction. Warm, comfortable, and waterproof. This 9" Steel toe logger work boot from Irish setter, continues the tradition of a rugged work boot made with durable materials. That's a real winner, and this is the perfect gift idea for the most important people in your life. It's a great value as these are made to last for a good many years. The outsole is non slip rubber from Vibram and you can pretty much take these things hiking if you really wanted to. The material inside will definitely keep your feet dry too which is always my biggest concern with these. Many times, your feet will get sweaty and then out in the cold, it will cause them to be uncomfortable. There's plenty of room for heavier socks if you like, but they're decently warm with hiking socks as well. The sole has a good wet and dry grip, and they're waterproof as advertised. I rode a motorcycle 3 hours in steady rain and me feet stayed warm and dry. The construction is great, and the materials are heavy-duty as expected for work boots. They also come with a decent insole, so you don't have to immediately get Dr Scholls if you don't want to. The break-in period is normal, but they were comfortable enough for all-day use right out of the box. These boots keep your feet from getting all sweated up no matter how thick your socks are. It allows them to breath comfortably while staying nice and warm. This is the non-insulated waterproof version, and provides good comfort with solid support and protection. These are the type of boots that will make it so you don't notice. Really! I used these to do a day of cutting wood for the upcoming winter season. This means cutting fallen trees up, carrying that to the truck and then coming home to split them all up for putting in the fireplace or wood stove. On uneven ground you want a boot that will keep you ankle supported so even if you step onto uneven ground, you won't get a sprain...which is very easy to do when doing wood. Nice lace system ensures a secure and snug fit every time. The chocolate leather construction looks as good as it performs. A solid value.
The Irish Setter, Shorewood men’s, 9inch workboots (11D, Brown) i received were good-looking and of excellent quality. However, they were model 83996 which is in the style of cowboy-boot workboots and not lace-up logger workboots as the sales listing now shows. (Refer to the photos i included.)The workboots i received were labeled as ASTM F2413-24 compliant. But there was some confusion as to exactly the specifications these workboots meet. The sales listing says “steel safety toe” and the box the shoes came in says “non-metallic toe.” And my best guess is that there is no steel in the toes of these workboots. (A strong magnet did not detect any steel in the toe of the workboots.) And the box lists a category called “Electrical hazard.” This probably means these workboots provide protection against the 18,000 Volts required by the ASTM specification. But i don’t really need super-protection against electricity and i am certainly not going to hook these workboots up to the specified 18,000 Volts to test them out. So - since neither of these two test requirements is critical to how i will be wearing these workboots - i am not at all concerned by the confusion about these two specs. (But i bring up the topic for those who might be concerned with such specs.)Red Wing has been known for many years for their high quality, durable mens work shoes. And these workboots seem to be of very high quality. They are very comfortable. No need for a break-in period as with some shoes. However, i noticed that the width that i selected - normal width - seems just a tiny bit wide/loose for my feet. But by wearing thicker, more full-bodied socks this most certainly will not be an issue. (Since it is early Fall i am still wearing those thin summertime stockings, so that’s an easy fix.)All-in-all these are high quality, good looking men’s workboots from a very reputable manufacturer. However, there might be some confusion as to which exact model is being listed for sale.
These boots surprised me with how comfortable they were from day one, no painful break-in period at all. The quality is immediately noticeable with solid leather construction and a Vibram outsole that grips well in both wet and dry conditions. They kept my feet dry during extended use in the rain, and the steel toe provides good protection without feeling too bulky. My only minor complaint is the sizing runs just slightly wide, so I'd recommend wearing thicker socks or considering that when ordering. The price point is steep, but the craftsmanship suggests these will last for years. Overall, they're exactly what you'd expect from a premium work boot - durable, protective, and surprisingly comfortable for all-day wear.
Great boots. Fit good. No water has leaked in, feet stay warm. Easy to lace up and to take off. I seem to have decent traction in these. The color still looks good even after getting wet.
