Extremely comfortable, well built
This is my third pair of Jim Greens. Like the others, it has high quality leather, excellent construction for this price level, and supreme comfort. Brand new so can’t speak to long term durability yet. The sole is pretty stiff as new, but expect it will get more flexible with wear. Listed as running small, so I got a 9 .5 rather than my normal 9, and fit was perfect. Better to err on the slightly larger size, as the full lacing allows cinching up tight for a custom fit, and thicker socks are normally worn with type boot. It is a wider boot, particularly in the toe box compared to normal D width, but that room is part of what adds to the comfort. While it looks very wide to the wearer looking down at them while on, observers do not really notice the wideness. My wife gave them a big thumbs up when I tried on for her. The insole provided is nothing fancy, but fine for the price. It’s removable, so you can add fancy cushioned orthotic insoles if you wish. It’s not a low profile boot, especially with the bright green laces, but they look great with jeans/ outdoor wear. Similar to old style alpine hiking boots, but much softer and more comfortable. Can’t beat value for price.

Great value quality boots
This was my first pair of Jim Greens bought in Dec 2021. This review is in Feb 2024.I wear size 12, and they fit perfectly in that size. My favorite features are the wide toe box and the full leather lining. They are quality heavy duty boots, not sneakers. They require a short break in period, but are super comfortable and tough. The insole was pretty thin, so I switched it out with an aftermarket version. I wear them when bank fishing in tall brush and nasty terrain. My feet are well protected and i can stand comfortably for hours. They can start to feel heavy, but that’s fine by me.I clean and condition them a few times a year, and after three years, they are still going strong. I anticipate needing a resole in a few years, but these should last me many more years to come.I liked these so much that I ended up buying a pair of African Rangers for daily work boots.

Exceeded My Expectations — Unmatched Fit and Value
Finally, a pair of boots that blend real craftsmanship with a design that actually respects the shape of your foot. For fit reference: my feet measure almost exactly 10 ½” in length. I initially ordered a size 10, this left me with 1” of room in the toe. So I exchanged them for a 9.5, using Jim’s size chart. This aligns far more accurately to the length of my foot. Some reviewers have mentioned that the insoles lack cushioning. That really comes down to the individual because I wear barefoot shoes everyday, and I’ve found that once your feet have time to strengthen and adapt, they naturally provide their own cushioning and support — just as they were designed to. Also, leather footwear will need a couple of weeks to soften and break in properly. Be patient.Unlike many minimalist or barefoot-style shoes, Jim Greens are built to last with proper care. The fit, comfort, and craftsmanship are truly exceptional — you won’t find a better-fitting heritage boot that honors the natural shape of your foot.

Very Well made...Durable and built like a Tank..but not the most comfortable
My problem with shoes is I need a pair that keeps my feet/knees/hips from hurting. If I grabbed 10 pairs of shoes/boots....9 would almost kill my feet. To say I'm picky about footwear doesn't cover it. I decided I'm tired of buying $60 shoes 3 times a year(cause I wear cross trainers out pretty quickly). So I thought I'd try a pair of decent/moderatly expensive boots and see if I could get some years out of them. The reviews on these were fairly good so I have given them a try.The first thing you notice is how well made they are. These ain't thin/cheap/plastic leather. These are real. I mean built like a tank Leather boots that will last a while. I bet each boot is 2 pounds...EZ. The Toe box is wide by my long skeleton feet are that so for me it's a perfect fit. Size wise, my 12 is exactly what these boots were....size 12. Perfect fit...No 1/2 size bigger or smaller. I guess every foot or preference is different. The one negative to me on these boots is a big one. These boots just aren't very comfortable. I'm guessing if your a younger person and haven't had feet issues so far...you'd be fine. But i'm over 10 years into feet issues and comfort matters. The main issues is feet/knee/hip pain but oddly enough...when I put these on...it doesn't exist. How can these be uncomfortable but not make my feet/knees/hips not hurt? I don't know....don't care. That's my need in a shoe/boot. I solved the comfort problem by slapping a pair of gel insoles inside. They work but the front of the foot goes "upwards" and basically rubbed 2 toes raw from the leather...Basically it's a tight fit. So I found a pair of heal/cushion inserts and it's helped a lot. These boots seem to fall lower in the heal than than the front.I'm gonna keep these boots casue I know they'll last and with time, hopefully they'll break in and I can stick some full inserts in and have full foot comfort. As it stands, these boots are worth the money. Just remember the break in period and be aware of the comfort...everyone's idea and level of it...is different.
