A comfortable shoe with great traction in the snow
I shattered my ankle in the spring and now over 7 months later I am able to wear shoes again instead of boots! But it is winter here and a lot of ice and snow so I wanted a shoe that had some good traction because the last thing I want is to slip and reinjure my foot! I almost didn't order these because of the cost, but finally decided to give them a try. The main reason I decided this is because my broken foot is still bigger than my other foot making it difficult to get that foot into a shoe. Once, it is in the shoe fits fine, but getting it in can be a challenge. So seeing these with the quick release and quick tightening was a big plus in my decision to try these out. Here are my thoughts on the Kailas hiking shoes:PROS:1) The fit is right on. I have size 11 and these fit like size 11 should.2) The tread is aggressive and grips in the snow.3) The shoe has no heal rise like a lot of boots, making them more comfortable.4) The shoes have not given me any hot spots. They have fit comfortable from day 1 with no break-in period.5) The BOA lacing system is working great making it very easy to take my shoes off and back on again. You pop the button out and it releases the wire allowing it to unwind when you pull off your shoe. Then you push the button back in and twist it and the wire tightens up. Adjust it to how tight you want and off you go. It kind of reminds me of those package security things they put on expensive products in a store. See pics.6) The laces thread through the shoe via these fabric strips that are very secure and provide even pressure (see pics).7) I've had these out in the snow on walks and in many puddles and they do stay dry inside.CONS:1) The stitching at the edge of the tongue is not the greatest. See last pic. For very well made shoes this is the weak point.2) It is too early to tell on the BOA lace system, but I am certainly concerned about the longevity of this system. When you get it in mud or start hitting the button on rocks while climbing the mountain trails will this system hold up? I have to assume that when this thing breaks there is no replacing a shoe lace! Instead you may be replacing an expensive pair of shoes. So far I love it, but I wish I knew if it can easily be replaced if it breaks.CONCLUSION:I really like these shoes. They are comfortable with enough toe room in the box. They have good traction. They keep my feet dry. Finally, the are easy to put on and take off, even with my injured foot.RATING SYSTEM:I review a lot of products because I know reading other people’s reviews are very helpful in selecting the right product. I saw a reviewer that gave a rating scale and I thought, "That is useful". When one is reviewing from underwear to air compressors having a way to tell you how I rate is important.Here is my rating scale:5 Stars: Excellent product, I highly recommend this product for anyone.4 Stars: Good product, but there are some quality, functionality, or design issues, but will still work well.3 Stars: Okay product, it will work for some people but not all people. It works but not great.2 Stars: Is not very functional. It might work in a very specialized situation, but don't count on it.1 Star: Trash. I can't see any useful purpose for the product.

very nice performance shoe for dynamic use
I'm a female and I love these shoes. I wear a size 9 and ordered the 7.5 and so the size is on point. They look surprisingly nice too I was worried they'd be extra bulky given they're a mens shoe but nope. Honestly, I hadn't heard of this company but looked them up and read they are a top brand in China so thought I'd give them a go. They're a solid performance shoe and will be great for hikes in the woods or other tasks where the bottom of this shoe can really shine as it's got great nubby grip. Overall, they're got a thinner frame which is nice for agility. Comfort wise, they're no Hoka Bondi's, so I don't expect I'll be lounging with these or spending long times on my feet standing still, though they're actually more supportive than I hoped given they're lightweight and more of a minimalist shoe, so that was a pleasant surprise. I mean, I wore them all day around the house and my feet were fine. Walked in some slush too and was nice to keep my foot dry and gripping the ground well. I really love the click device to tighten or rapid release (just pull up on the circle) the laces. My only real gripe is a minor one, and that is that when I removed these shoes from my bare feet the insert came with it. Usually that takes a few months to happen so I doubt these were tacked down well, or at all. I guess some might prefer that to put their own insert in but I personally don't want to feel any sliding around inside my shoe or coming out unless I'm doing it. Likely wearing socks will solve this issue but I tend not to like to do that so and most shoes are ok with this, but I know some are not and I guess this is one of them. Still, overall, a very nice shoe for sure.
