Excellent Shoes with Vibram & Gore-Tex
This is the fourth pair of Kailas shoes, and I’ve been very impressed with the brand. Each pair has been extremely well-made, and they’ve all been comfortable, though some are a better match for my own feet than others. The first two pair were Fugas styles, with a wind locking lace system. I found those to be a lighter feeling shoe than these, though I never actually weighed them, and they are more what I imagine of a running trail shoe.These shoes seem more like the stereotype of what I expect in an excellent hiking shoe. They are impressively sturdy with top notch materials. I was anticipating the solidly made and reputable Vibram soles, but I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the top part of the shoe is Gore-Tex. In terms of brand recognition, I can’t think of two elements I’d rather see in a hiking shoe. This pair is a lace-up shoe, and I’m intrigued by the bracing mechanism in the middle to help keep the laces in position.As for comfort, the soles of this pair are thick, supportive, and comfortable. The top of the shoe isn’t uncomfortable, but it is a stiffer material and not as supple as some other shoes might be. I consider this a tradeoff for the weather resistant Gore-Tex material. I should note that I have a sensitive spot along the top of my foot at the joint of my large toe, and the top of this shoe puts pressure on it that’s less comfortable for me, personally. I don’t consider this a shortcoming of the shoe because it’s a problem unique to my own foot, but I do think it might be an important consideration for some people. I’m hoping the shoe molds to my foot over time or that my foot gets used to the shoe.Overall, I consider these excellent shoes and well worth ordering for people interested in trail hiking shoes.

Trail Tested Comfort
These hiking shoes impressed me right out of the box. They feel sturdy but surprisingly light, and the waterproofing really holds up in wet grass and shallow puddles.
