Run a little snug around the instep and arch

I'm not sure what to say about the size. My foot has measured as "11 D" for the last few years, I have been buying size 11 shoes and boots. Amazon recommended "13 Women / 11 Men" The size chart showed 13 Women / 12 Men and 12 Women / 11 Men. I decided to try 12 Men. When I tried them on, I felt they were way to long, about an inch of space at the toe. I returned them an ordered the size 11 Men. When I tried them on, I was surprised that they seemed about as big as the size 12's that I had returned. I checked inside and they were stamped 12 Women / 11 Men. I thought that that was still too much and I would be tripping over the toes of the boots. They felt just a little snug on the sides around the arch. I returned those and ordered 11 Women / 10 Men. I tried them on wearing the socks that I had been wearing with an old pair of boots. Right away I had trouble getting one boot on over my high instep, a problem that I encounter sometimes. I removed a pair of socks and tried again. When I checked the toes, there was just a enough space for my toes to not hit the end when standing. The removable insoles are very "cushiony" and comfortable. I had to remove them to use my arch supports comfortably, but the boots still felt springy and comfortable on a walk with the dog. We didn't go through mud, but traveled over grass, dirt paths, gravel, rocks and concrete. The boots were comfortable and did not slip.I ended up returning the size 10 boots. Due to my high insteps, they were pinching the top of one of my feet after about 3 hours. I ordered a larger size.I tried the size 11 Mens. They started out a little snug, but I got used to that. I wore them around the house a couple days to see how they fit and today I took them for a "test drive" while walking the dog. We usually walk about 2 miles along the river. We went over loose gravel, packed gravel, rough concrete, loose soil, packed soil, mud, sandy soil, both dry and wet, and over some large, smooth rocks. One rock in particular has always been a slip hazard due to its slope and smoothness. I was prepared to slip today, but the boots gripped and held on! I found these boots very comfortable and sure footed over a variety of surfaces. I finally found some mud on a slope that they couldn't grip. All I can say is wow. Overall, these are the secure feeling boots or shoes that I can remember ever having

Very comfortable boot

These boots were great. I purchased them for a trip to Alaska for getting in and out of zodiacs and for hiking in water and mud. The fit was perfect. They were so comfortable for hiking that I even wore them as a rain boot for walking around town. I also tried on some boots from Bogs. They were comfortable also. But the KalKal was a little higher on my ankle and less expensive.

A-OK light-weight boot

Used regularly for light work and walking over property when wet. Still good as new after 9 months. Light-weight and easy on/off. I didn't buy for heavy-duty all-day and wouldn't recommend for such; soles aren't heavily reinforced for jobs requiring a heavy-duty sole shank (like standing on a shovel to press into hard ground). For keeping feet dry and for traction in mud they work fine for me.
