Love, love, love the boot. It's super warm, waterproof and very comfortable. The quality is outstanding!
I read over many reviews a few times before buying, and the votes were about split on 'too small" or "as expected or large" for size ordered. I am a 7.5W in a pump and an 8 in all other shoes otherwise, so I decided to follow the voting half that said it 'runs small" b/c I knew that too tight wouldn't work but I could put on a thick wool sock if needed. SIZE MYSTERY SOLVED: As soon as I saw & tried them on I knew exactly why the reviews have been as such: The have a liner inside them to keep your feet warm so that will make your 'normal' size feel too tight...yet to deliver on warmth, the liner needs to stay (and I've not found it to be removable...not that I would take it out!).So ladies, here's the deal: Size up b/c of the liner which will keep your feet nice & warm. I got the size 9. Half sizes would have been preferred, so my ideal fit would simply have been an 8.5 to allow for the liner but it does not come in half sizes! I am using them in Minnesota & my feet are nice & warm & the boot is comfortable; I wear a light wool sock & to snug it for hard core snow conditions I would just add a regular, thicker wool sock. I would have given it a 4.5 for not having half sizes, but other than that it's a 5 star product.
While these boots appear to be well made and I liked the fact that they were made in the USA, I think the company needs to redesign these boots. They run incredibly small and narrow. I don't have a wide foot but I had to cram my feet into these. I ordered a size larger that I normally wear and I was wearing only one pair of socks. My toes were jammed against the front of the boot and the boots were digging into my ankles. It was a totally uncomfortable experience, wearing these. Also, I don't feel that the -40 degree claim is accurate. It was in the twenties and my feet were still cold.
My husband ordered a pair of snow boots from this company and loved them. He wears a men’s 10, and he ordered a 10, which fit great. I had at first ordered my size(10) but my toes were cramped. I did the return, which was super easy, and ordered an 11. They arrived right before a snowfall. So I put them right into action! These are warm, comfortable, lightweight, easy to walk in boots. I highly recommend them!I would note that my overall experience in ordering boots has been to order one size up to save on a return.
4 stars since I haven't gotten serious use out of these since it's not cold yet, but from first impressions and walking around my house, these boots are comfy and very warm. They seem like they're made really well. The tread on the bottom of the boot seems like it'll protect you from slippery conditions. The boots are lace up, so they can fit a wide variety of calf sizes, as well as tucked in jeans. The D-rings for the laces are made of metal, not plastic. The white nylon is heavy nylon and water repellent. I will most likely Scotchgard them to make them even more weather resistant. Will update their functionality in the cold once winter weather hits.SIZING: there's a removable insulated foam type material boot inside the actual boot. Again, this is removable, but is needed to make these boots functional in the cold. With the warming layer removed, these boots will fit true to size imo. Although if you remove the warming layer, you'll have to buy an insole to put in the bottom since it's just plastic. The removable boot make these boots a solid 1/2 to one full size smaller than advertised. I'm a 7½. I bought an 8, and they fit snug with mid-weight socks on. Btw, you'll need to wear socks with the warming layer. It's itchy and a bit rough on bare skin. Since they only come in full sizes, I can imagine I'd swim in a 9. The only complaint I have for the manufacturer is that these boots really need to come in half sizes.
I’m from rural Alaska and have to go outside often in -30 winter weather, so I definitely know what is a “good” winter boot. These boots were WAY too small and narrow. I normally wear women’s 10 reg. shoe and women’s 11 for any winter boot, but these were very narrow and I couldn’t wear them with even a thin pair of socks, also my foot was like perfectly touching the boot from heel to toe, no wiggle room at all or space for socks. It felt like my feet were getting squeezed, and I don’t have wide feet by any means. The boot it’s self looked very nice and seemed like they would be very warm, if only it fit right! I think the Kamik brand just runs small, I also ordered at the same time, a pair of girls size 2 boots for my daughter, which were also too small/tight for her. I would definitely say order a size up for any Kamik boot, but in my case, I can’t and won’t order a size 12.
Best winter boots! These boots have a tread on them to help with traction. They do run a bit small, so I can't wear thick socks, but they are perfect for what I need snow boots for. They are easy to put on and to cinch tightly. They're a bit pricey, but worth it. This is a very high quality boot. I will definitely buy this brand again when this pair runs out. They look nice and stay clean.
