Autism friendly!

Update 6-3-24: they are still comfortable and holding up well. I have added some comfort insoles because when I walk a lot my feet start to hurt, it is a new development after a year of wear. However I'm a larger person so that probably plays a part. They are starting to show signs of wear but not much. I wear these almost every time I have to wear shoes. I will buy another pair when my current ones bite the dust.Let me start off by saying I'm an autistic adult. I typically wear Crocs if I can't go barefoot or just in socks. However Crocs aren't that great in the rain. These shoes are a great alternative. I get lots of good sensory feedback while wearing them. When I walk on gravel I can tell that it is a non solid surface. It isn't painful at all. I just feel that I'm walking on lots of small surfaces. I have worn them in damp grass for a little bit and my socks did not get wet at all. (Wet socks are unacceptable.) They are very easy to get on. There is a good bit of room for adjustment in the Velcro strap. My ankles are rather large and I can easily fasten it securely. They stay securely in place on my foot. The top of my foot feels gently hugged. I can move my foot freely in the shoe. I love these shoes so far. They do not have much padding in the foot bed but it doesn't feel uncomfortable. I realize that this is an oddly detailed review. I really hope it helps other actually autistic individuals. Shoes with good feedback that are not ones that let in moisture are hard to find at a reasonable price. I got them on sale for about $25 and it was very well spent. I would definitely pay more for them in the future.

Great for little feet!

UPDATE: I still love these shoes because they fit my daughter’s feet so well BUT! After wearing these shoes for only a few weeks the fabric on the top of the shoes is already cracking and peeling off. It’s hard to tell unless you’re looking up close, but it will definitely be noticeable as the peeling progresses. I just would have thought that with the quality (and price) of Keen they would’ve held their aesthetic a bit longer than this. Since it doesn’t affect the function or comfort of the shoe, which is my main priority, I didn’t remove any stars. Both me and my 6yo daughter absolutely love these shoes!!! The wide toe box is perfect for her growing feet and her toes have room to breathe and spread out. I particularly love the rubber toe protector, as she's always scuffing her toes no matter what shoes she wears (pretty sure that's a normal kid thing). They are super easy to slip on and off even if they happen to get wet. The colors are very pretty and bright but not in-your-face level bright plus these shoes are very easy to clean. You honestly wouldn't even know they're Keen's if they didn't have the classic Keen toe protector. Every time I try to get her to wear different shoes she gets upset, as these are her absolutely favorite!

Great Kids Hiking Shoe

Wonderful hiking shoes for my 2 year old! They are stiff enough for hiking but not too much that my toddler has any issues. Also has a fairly wide toe box which I appreciate. They are easy to put on and off and have held up through creeks, rivers, and lakes so far!

Strap broke

Unfortunately the velcro strap did not hold up. It ripped off the main shoe part and my daughter cannot keep her foot in the shoe now when she walks. Was hoping that it would have lasted longer than 5 months.

High Quality, great features, great fit!

I love Keen!! When I saw these, I knew they'd be quality so I got them for my 4 year old. She is obsessed with purple right now, so they were perfect! The toe box is nice and wide, which is great for toddler+ feet! They are a little difficult to get on (tight) but once the foot is in, there wasn't any issue with things being too tight. The shoes are just really sturdy, really stiff as most Keens are! I love the front toe bumper, my daughter is HARD on shoes, and I really think these are going to hold up long term. I tried two different sizes and they were true to her size, I kept the bigger ones for when she sizes up, that's how much I loved them!

Didn’t hold up at all to minimal wear.

I tried two pairs of these this summer. The first pair went back within a month because it didn’t hold up to minimal wear while my petite 4 yr old rode her scooter in our drive way. Not even daily wear for her.The second pair was worn over the summer by my 2 yr old - minimal wear cause he also wore his sandals majority of the summer. He also was carried a lot in a carrier or rode in a stroller on long walks so any wear was from his minimal scooting around in our driveway on his little riding toys. These shoes are crap. Save your money.Keen has gone the cheap route and I can no longer be a customer of theirs after over a decade of loving their shoes for my other kids. They started coming out with new versions of loved styles a few years ago and that’s when the trouble started. I had moderate hopes for these but they fell apart just like all the other newer models I have tried as my kids have grown..

Great quality

Great quality hiking shoe for toddler. Was happy to find one in a small enough size. We did size up one to use warmer hiking socks and they were perfect! Very supportive and have traction.
