The Keen Howser Wool Slipper(s) are warm and comfortable. The toe box is wide and the soles allow for grip on wet or smooth surfaces. I recommend going up one shoe size because they run small. Very good winter slippers.
Edit 7/1/25: He finally wore through the felt upper, so I bought another pair with the nylon upper, in the same size 12 as before. Wouldn't you know, they were too small! I returned them for a size 13, which fit perfectly. So now you have to buy 1 size up from your regular size.I bought these shoes as a gift for my husband. He has tried and rejected slippers from every shoe store in town, even the comfortable shoes store, and tried 2 kinds from Amazon which scuffed along the floor and wore out in 6 months. My son was wearing a pair of these Keen shoes as slippers, and he said he had them for 8 years! He had bought his for "camp shoes" to put on after taking his boots off when hiking & camping. So I sat down and ordered some for my husband right away. The price was very fair, and when he got them , Eureka! They fit perfectly, with a gentle arch support and non-skid rubber-type soles that come up about 1/2" on the sides - enough to step outside to check the mail, but not for walking in the rain. I chose the black felt upper. He has worn them every single day since he got them. He tells me often how comfy and supportive they are. The felt upper sheds little wisps of fiber every few days, but these can be cut or pulled off easily - at least it's not those hard little pills! I cannot recommend these shoes too highly for men who need house shoes or slippers. Better than moccasins by far!
So far so good! For me, it is important to judge a shoe by the quality of fit and then quality of wear.Purchased these in size 14 although one could consider me a big 13 and most of my shoes and sneakersare 13 with a few exceptions I do wear a 14. The issues with getting these slippers on has not beena major problem. I can see where people complain about it but it's minor for me as I get them on and offwith a high instep within seconds. This is a very good quality slipper.The inside isn't super soft and fluffy. The inside is more firm with a soft feel to itwhich is acceptable. The outside is terrific and exactly what I hoped for. Wasn't looking for a shoeper se, but it can act like a shoe because the outside is sturdy and you can even walk in wet grassor in wet weather. The color (red) is very close to the picture. I have not had an opportunity to washthe slippers to see how they respond. So far the quality of wear has been acceptable. I wear theseslippers everyday at home and even wear them to diverse job locations. I do alot of standing on my feetand they are comfortable and the bottom grips well. A minor issue is my feet sweat in them after long periodsof time but I am able to wear thin socks and that alleviates the problem for the most part.Overall the best pair of slippers I've worn, so they are highly recommended. These came with freeshipping and it took approximately 9 days to arrive which is within ship time promised.NOTE: DO NOT wash these as the heel counter might collapse rendering these slippers almost impossible towear. The heel counter is comprised of two metal inserts that keep it upright. After collapsing theheel counter inserts will painfully stick you in the heel. Was unable to bend or reshape the inserts intoan upright position so the slippers were disgarded. Also after washing the color red changed to pink.Purschased another pair of these in black. Still highly recommend these all purpose comfy slippers.
This is my second pair. My first pair fit perfectly and as expected @ sz.13This pair was almost a full size too short. Exchanged for 14 (a size I _never_ wear) and all was fine. Odd.Aside from that, these make fantastic everyday house slippers / casual shoes. The outsoles are sturdy enough they can be worn outdoors or even driving, if the fit is correct. They are super comfortable after a short breakin period and they last for years. I also wear Keen lace-up shoes as my normal "away" shoes, so I'm a big fan of their design, obviously.On the slippers, the ample (and high) rubber outsole at toe and heel mean that you aren't constantly destroying your slippers on ordinary objects like furniture. Recommended, but watch out for - or enquire about - the new sizing.
Amazon recommended a size eleven, I ordered up to 11.5, too small. Exchanged for a 12 and they are great, very comfortable. Looking for to cooler temps and wearing them regularly. Stars are for product not amazon size tool.
This is a unique, effective design that is something of the amalgamation of a cushy Crocks with a sturdy Dansko chef clog. They feel great to wear standing around in the kitchen for an hour or two - yet with easy (one-finger) on/off without stooping. They grip the foot enough to feel like a shoe without slippage; just don't expect to break into a trot.The air-permeable outer woven fabric + thin (polyester) microfleece lining is perfect to add a warm feeling but avoiding overheathing from excessive thickness (sherling) or moisture-blocking layers. You can wear the for hours without feeling the clammy sweat accumulation in those well-meaning suede slippers you got for Christmas that can feel misterable humid-hot after even minutes.Kudos to Keen for "threading the needle" here for a terrific, multi-purpose shoe that looks savvy, has a wide range of use-appeal and spares everyone from another dorkish, clown-like shoe.
I've only had these shoes for a short time but I find them to be slightly uncomfortable, despite the fact that the size seems correct. However, I also think that they are or will be good for what I purchased them for, which is to be able to wear them inside and then be able to go outside into snow.
