Perfect replacement for uncomfortable Converse
As we age, some of us get foot pain. That’s me. Ouch. My tastes in footwear are hopelessly stuck in my youth, so I mostly wear low-top Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars. Eventually my feet could not take it anymore so I had to pack my Converse away. Keen, I found, makes extremely comfortable sneakers and hiking shoes. I have been wearing the few pairs I find stylishly tolerable for a while now. Still, the exact style I was yearning for did not exist. That is until now. I stumbled upon these “KEEN Men's Eldon Comfortable Sneakers.” I waited two weeks for them to arrive from Japan. Why Japan? Because Japan is awesome! But alas, they fit, they look great, they have the style and retro aesthetic I want. Maybe I’ll add white laces soon. Maybe. I’m digging the black laces so far. For some people, shoes are just shoes and no big deal. It might be silly, but even with my simple tastes in clothes—pants, t-shirts, and sneakers—the exact right footwear is incredibly important to me. As long as Keen makes these and as long as they continue to feel comfortable on my feet I’m going to be snagging up spare pairs of these sneakers and wearing them into the sunset at the old age home for us Gen-Xers. 5 stars.

FINALLY! A (somewhat) classic canvas sneaker that fits my wide feet!
I have hobbit feet, it's true. I struggle to find shoes wide enough to fit comfortably, which is one of the reasons I love Keens in general -- they are wide by nature. I had been searching for some classic sneakers for quite some time. While the canvas Vans work well, their sole leaves much to be desired. And Chucks? Don't even bother!Enter the Keen Eldon! I say they are a "somewhat" classic looking sneaker, because while they have the classic canvas sneaker look, they do have Keen's signature toe bumper. I don't mind it, honestly, as I actually like the bulbous look of my Keen hiking boots. And the comfort can't be beat! Now, full disclosure: the included insoles are garbage, but what standard sneaker insole isn't? I swapped the insoles from my Birkenstock sneakers and now, finally, I have a classic canvas sneaker with PROPER ARCH SUPPORT! These are quickly becoming my favorite shoe, and I might just have to order all the colors...

Nice shoes, but squeaky.
They're nice, comfortable shoes with good styling. As someone mentioned previously, they're a little loud when walking so it's not possible to sneak up on someone (if you have to).

Quality/sizing not the same as my Keen Elsa's (women's version)
I'm a female with wide feet (D to 2E, depending on the shoe) and hoped that maybe the men's "Eldon" version of this Keens sneaker would be wide enough. Well, the right shoe felt *almost* wide enough, but the left was really tight, as soon as I put it on. I double-checked the size: yep, EU size 40, that should work. But the height of the toe box was just not tall enough: it was squishing the tops of my toes.I decided to check these against my women's Elsa sneaker, which I bought locally a year or so ago. Sure enough, the Elsa (EU size 40) has a taller toe box, and actually feels wider across the toe box than the men's Eldon.Another thing I noticed that's different is that these Eldon sneakers don't have the bouncy rubber soles that my Elsa's do. That was the main reason I really wanted to stick with this shoe: I'm recovering from plantar fasciitis and sometimes just need a zero-drop cushioned shoe (already tried Altras but they're too narrow, and so are Topos - the rest are pretty much barefoot with zero cushioning). The soles of these Keen Eldons aren't very springy/cushiony, and they don't seem to have much shock absorption, unlike my previous pairs of Keen sneakers. Maybe Keen has changed the material in the soles? The only reason I ordered these was because my Elsa's seemed a bit tight across the ball of my foot last time I wore them, so I was hoping the men's Eldon would give me that extra bit of width. Turns out, my Elsa's fit fine now that I have new socks that are slightly thinner than the ones I had last year. Woohoo! I can keep my nice cushiony Elsa's (which I love the pattern on) and will be returning these Eldons. If you have a *very* low volume toe area, you might find these Eldons comfortable. But don't expect much in the cushioned-sole department unless you switch out the insoles, which you can do since the insoles are removable. (FYI, I have rather low-volume feet with a low, flexible arch --- so if you have a high arch you might find these too tight volume-wise.)

Pricey but worth it
These shoes are cool and you can actually go to a concert and not have your feet hurt at all! They have a large toe box, just like the Keen boot, and there was no break in period.I'm a 13 1/4 and a 13 fits perfectly.
