Another Winner from Keens

I have the summer weight hikers but they have been relegated to yard shoes. Needed a better pair for public. These seem a bit heavier, even without being waterproof. The sole needed a little more break-in than my other Keens shoes, but that's OK. The plastic cap toe is a great feature. Con: I like the cord lace method on other shoes but I think for this application I'd prefer to lace them like regular shoes- can't seem to get them as snug as I'd like. Guess I can snip off the keeper if it gets too annoying.

Decent, but some big flaws

These shoes are comfortable. They do run large, be warned. The lacing system is absolute garbage. I ended up cutting it out and lacing through with regular laces. Whoever thought that lacing system was a good idea needs to be slapped. You can't tighten it tight enough and within five minutes it starts to slip loose.

Give them a chance

These took a couple of days to break in. Had them a couple of months now and worn them to work every day. I'm on concrete the whole day and walk a lot. They have definitely outperformed most safety shoes I've had, only equal to my winter season boots also from Keen. They are a little more bulky, and heavier than I'd like, but they seem to be pretty tough. Tread is amazing on these. Like a good tire. They are as comfortable as safety toes can be, but more comfortable than most others I've had. The price here in Amazon is also the best I've seen.

Detachment of fragments that end up staining the floor. Although they are comfortable, there is premature deterioration of the sole. On the other hand, they are very heavy. They are suitable for people who always work in cement since in areas such as epoxy paint or porcelain tile, they stain the floor with residue. They are soft and perhaps the detachment is due to the need to use soft materials for extreme applications.
