Finally found a good boot
I have never owned KEENs before. I do however have wide feet and toes that like to splay out. I love to hike especially in the mountains. If you’ve ever hiked inclines, you know how unfortunate it feels to have squished and bruised toes. I debated on a size 8 or 8w. I decided to go for the 8w. I will say they are very wide. For me, I love this. But I want to give the disclosure that I believe the regular size also runs a little wide as well. The insoles in these are a dream. Not memory foam soft, but comfortable right out of the box. They are sturdy enough to feel like you have enough support. I LOVE that these have a strap on the side. This allows you to tighten the boots around your ankle and keeps your feet from pushing to the front of the boot. For inclines, this is so so important. The arch support is phenomenal. These are very waterproof from what I have tested them in. Puddles and small streams mainly. KEEN as a brand have been pfas free since 2018 and keep the environment in mind when making products. Overall very happy with the purchase, price point, and company as a whole.

Comfortable boot with nice detailing, but the jury is still out on quality..
Right out of the box these boots were extremely comfortable. I was quite pleased and am looking forward to hiking in them. Per comments in other reviews, I hope that they last and are durable.I did read through many of the reviews before purchasing these and was surprised that no one commented on the reflective strip in the back the sides and the top, which was one of the things that caught my attention first, but maybe that’s because I’m often out after dusk. I like how the back reflective ribbon strip can also be used as a hook to help you put on your boot. However, I can see why another reviewer thought that the tongue of the boot could be a little thicker and wider but I think I’m gonna have to log a few miles or several miles before I can adequately review that function.I did not need to put in my own arch support so far, though the insole that these boots come with are quite flimsy, so at some point that might be a good idea. I think it must be the design of the boot itself that is so comfortable and is unrelated to the “arch support” insert . But it is removable so it’s not a dealbreaker.Several people did mention the fabric part between the leather upper and the rubber bottom tore easily, and I could kind of see how that could happen, as well as comments about having issues with the adhesive between the boot upper and the bottom rubber traction part, coming unglued. Since I have not worn them outside yet, I don’t know how durable of a pair I received, but at the moment, because they are so comfortable for me, which is rare, I am going to try them out and keep them. After doing a thorough exam it appears, and I could be wrong, that rather than an issue of the quality of the workmanship involved with the shoes falling apart quickly, it could be more of an issue of the glue that they use and the type of adhesive. Bad batch? different manufacturer? You know, like vitamin companies... Quality of different manufacturers is quite discernible if you are sensitive to it.

Women's Keen Hiking boots
A Swiss Army Knife for Your Feet.As an avid hiker, I embarked on a solo adventure to Switzerland, where I put Keen's women's hiking boots to the ultimate test. These boots are a dream to wear. They provide exceptional arch support and cushioning, making them a joy to hike in for hours on end. The padded collar and tongue prevent chafing and offer a snug fit. Switzerland's unpredictable weather was no match for these boots. They kept my feet bone-dry through torrential downpours, snow-covered trails, and muddy bogs. The breathable construction allowed my feet to stay cool and comfortable even during strenuous ascents. Not only did these boots excel in Switzerland, but I've also been using them for swamp trails in Florida. They effectively protect my feet from water, thorns, and debris. Their versatility makes them a must-have for any outdoor enthusiast.Cons:Slippery on wet flagstone and sugar sand. The treads on the soles do not provide adequate traction on these specific surfaces, leading to a lack of grip and potential for slipping. Ask me how I know, LOL...

Expensive boots w/ terrible grip
I was recommended these hiking boots by my parents because I was heading to Costa Rica. I bought them back in April 24’. I used them multiple times for good lengths of time over several different terrains to break them in. I even wore them to Disneyland to walk ten miles in. Every time I wore them my feet felt like they would fall apart. So uncomfortable that I ended up purchasing inserts to put in them. Fast forward to June during my trip. I wore them on the hikes through the rain forest and let me tell you I did not feel confident in them keeping me stable one bit. I was constantly focused on where to step in fear of losing the grip. They were great to protect my feet and ankles from critters but that was it. Two days ago I was walking around the main city and had my hiking sandals on, walked 4 miles and felt great but it was starting to rain and the streets can get a little slick. I decided before heading out on a walking food tour to switch to the boots to help keep me from slipping. They did the OPPOSITE! I can’t count how many times I felt the shoe slip as I walked. Ultimately I ended up slipping and unable to save myself. I fell hard on my knee resulting in a giant slice and scrape. I couldn’t go back and change because the tour had started. So I’m walking through the city with bloody knee and walking for another 4 miles before finally making it back to the hotel and my feet were literally screaming. The tops of my feet were so strained, the bottoms hurt and I got a large blister on one of my toes (which I hadn’t gotten one yet). I would’ve felt safer in the hiking sandals and more confident in not slipping/falling. I one hundred percent wouldn’t purchase these again nor recommend them.
