Comfy right out of the gate!

Love these boots! Comfortable right out of the gate. Plenty of toe space, great ankle support, good traction, water resistant, good arch support, and not overly hot. Also, great looking boots! Not heavy or clunky. What more could you ask for in a boot? I have very high arches and these boots are supportive as is. At first I added a thin insole, but found I didnt really need it. If you do anticipate needing a substantial insole, I would go up a half size, perhaps. They are water resistant, but full on walking through deep creeks... not so sure about. Rain, puddles, mud...great. The only downside, as some others noted, is that you will undoubtedly get some wearing (rips) on top of the shoe where the foot bends. I have been wearing the boots for two seasons for daily walks of 3miles-ish (mostly just in fall and winters) and just noticed the holes recently... I'm sad, but have gotten tons of use and they are still very functional with many miles leftin them.

Definitely a great hiking boot! And definitely the best option for wide feet!

Finally! A boot that fits my wide foot! I am exactly a size 9 but usually wear a 9.5 in shoes to allow for a little room. I tried on several different brands of hiking shoes and boots (Ahnu, Salomon, etc) - all the usual go-to's and popular choices but none of them fit my foot. My foot isn't even that wide! I was so relieved when I got these Keens. They are super comfortable and didn't need any breaking in. I have been hiking in them - one 12 mile trip and one 5 mile trip - in and out of puddles and I love them. I read a bunch of reviews on them - like I do with everything - and several people said that they were good for wide feet. I can definitely confirm that. I like the color a lot. It's true to the picture. I'm still not sure how I feel about the waterproof aspect of them. Like I said, I was in and out of puddles (on purpose to test the boots). It felt like my socks got wet but when I took my boot off, they were completely dry. It was weird lol. I also tested them out on slippery surfaces and they had decent traction. I'm definitely happy that I got these and will forever be a Keen customer from now on!

Worth every penny!

I never gave much thought to hiking shoes until my husband and I trekked through one of Texas' many state parks and I tweaked my ankle a couple miles from the trail head on some shifty terrain. After that trip I retired my "trail" tennis shoes and started researching hiking boots. I walked around REI in a pair of Merrell's for about 30 minutes and while they were somewhat comfy they were quite heavy and my legs felt like I'd spent a half hour at the gym. So I went back to the drawing board and found Keen and I'm glad I did. I put them on when they came in and walked around my office in them for a few minutes; then proceeded to wear them on a 6 mile hike the next day. They required no break-in time! They are incredibly comfortable straight out of the box. They are lightweight and they are waterproof which is a huge bonus!A couple thigs to note...These are a narrower designed shoe so plan to go up a size if you have a wider foot or if you wear thicker socks. I normally wear a 6 but ordered a 7 to accommodate my hiking socks and I am very pleased with my purchase.Plan to have to pause a couple of times and adjust your laces until you figure out how tight/lose to get them around the shaft of the boot. Once I got that dialed in I was good to go!

Very snug/narrow at first and then loosened up.

I love that this hiking boot is pretty lightweight. It feels more like a high running shoe with some ankle support than a chunky hiking boot, which is what I was looking for however if you are really looking for a boot that minimizes the feeling of rocks or gravel underfoot, this doesn’t do as much of that as other hiking boots I’ve had in the past. The boots felt VERY narrow/tight the first time I wore them, so much so that I really thought I would need to return them, but they got looser and more comfortable with each consecutive wear. I usually wear a standard width shoe. So, I highly suggest breaking them in on a few short walks or hikes. Unfortunately, I hiked with them for about 4.5 miles the first time and it was a very uncomfortable hike. Be aware that the waterproof portion is not to the top of the shoe, more like slightly above the ankle below the hook portion of the laces. I stood in a very shallow stream without any water penetration and I think they would do fine in a few inches of snow. I will primarily plan on wearing these for summer hikes, so my interest in them being waterproof is more for hiking in rain or crossing small streams than deep snow. The shoes are not super hot, but due to the waterproof inside they are not breathable. I love the funky royal blue/purplish color. It’s not over the top bright, but a fun pop of color when most hiking apparel is more neutral.

Pleasantly surprised

Recovering from ankle surgery and got these hoping they would provide added support and comfort now that I am finally weight bearing.I just go them today. The insoles are removable, not glued in. So I may use my custom orthotics with it. The insoles are pretty nice though. I normally wear a 7-7.5 but was advised to wear an 8 athletic shoe since my foot base is a little wide. These are nice and roomy in the toe. Nice since I am still experiencing some swelling in my feet since surgery.I have not walked a lot in them and looking forward to wearing them more. I just started wearing shoes again on my affected foot 4 days ago. I am pleasantly surprised that I will definitely be able to add these shoes to the small list of ok shoes to wear on my foot. Right now other slip on shoes are not so comfortable and I am having to resort to better quality shoes.I have to say these are somewhat snug so if you have very wide feet they may be tight.
