My wife, a flip flop sandal wearer, wore these for a few minutes and had some strong feedback:-if you’re forced to or intending to wear closed-toes sandals without a heel, these could work-her foot slipped to the front of the sandal with every step, so any significant length of toenail will be sad if you walk in these much-the soles are thick and comfy enough-the foot strap part feels fairly soft but is also tight or inflexible enough initially (being leather it could break in over time) where she was confident that substantial walking with cause a big time blister if the top of the foot that contacts where the midfoot gets restrained from popping out-the black color is neutral to blah and the other colors (sea form green and lavender) are much more attractive-super overpriced and somewhat disappointing as we have had other Keens that are more like water shoes than sandals that were our basis of comparison that served to make us excited to try and then let down by these. It’s not that these aren’t built well from quality materials, it’s that the design falls short of the implementation of their other footwear lines.
I like that these leather sandals have a closed toe to protect my big toe. The arch support is good and it has good traction on the bottom. I usually wear 9.5 in normal shoes and sometimes 10 to accommodate my wide feet. I was recommended size 10 and the sizing chart says I should go with 10.5. I decided to go with size 11 and I'm glad I did. Any smaller and I wouldn't have been able to fit my feet into them. The sandal is wide enough in to the toe box. However, the bottom two straps of the "star" shaped straps dig into my skin. This usually isn't a problem for me for sandals, so this part runs smaller than usual (especially if I'm going up by 1.5 sizes). I tried wearing thin cotton socks, but I still get some irritation from the straps. The only way I'm able to tolerate these sandals at the moment is to wear thick fuzzy socks. Hopefully they stretch out, but it probably won't be enough for me. If you wear normal width or narrow width, then it should be fine to order your normal size.
These sandals are a great option for anyone looking for a slip on option with the same rugged styling you expect from Keen. The sole is extremely comfortable and supportive, and the upper fits my foot very well. I wear an 11, and found that the shoe fit me just fine. The covered toe protects my big toe without rubbing. The bottoms of the shoes are channeled for outdoor wear in water, and have great grip. These are very comfortable when walking, and are extremely lightweight despite the bulky appearance. If you're familiar with Keen you know these are a quality shoe. Great sandals.
I am normally a size 9, or 9.5 in active wear like running shoes. I ordered a 9 in these and they’re a little big! If you order these, I’d recommend sizing down half a size. That said, despite the show being big, when my foot is comfortably in the shoe, there is quite a bit of room in the back - even if I’m wearing socks. The arch support seems to be closer to the ball of the foot and is not placed well for my foot. I can’t get it to actually support my arch unless I shove my foot all the way to the front of the shoe, with my toes up against the end. When I do that, there is even more space in the back!Other than the possible over-sizing and the arch support placement, I think these shoes could be very comfortable. They have quite a bit of give and feel nice and pillowy to walk in, but they’re not so soft that there’s no support. They have decent structure, and would be much better if the arch was moved back just a tad. The shock absorption is very nice, and they do look super cute - I love the design. The materials feel like good quality and seem like they’d be easy to clean. Overall, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend these if you’re looking for arch support - especially at the current list price. I can wear them around the house but I couldn’t wear them all day without my feet hurting! I took off two stars for the odd sizing and the arch placement.
These Keen sandals are incredibly comfortable right out of the box. They have that squishy, cushioned feel and even make that soft “flip-flop” sound when you walk without actually being flimsy. Super supportive but still flexible, so your feet don’t feel stiff or tired after wearing them. They run true to size, so definitely don’t size up like I did (learn from my mistake 😅). Once you get the right size, they’re an easy grab-and-go sandal that feels great all day. Perfect for everyday wear when you want comfort without sacrificing style.
