High price, but high-end as well

I used these on an eight day hunt in the Alaskan tundra, trudging through swampy areas quite a bit. The only break-in the boots had was walking through airports on the way to Alaska. Air temps were in the upper 20's & low 30's. Water temps were so cold the hands immediately ached when submersed. My feet stayed warm and dry the entire time and absolutely no issues with fit. The boots were comfortable from start to finish. They're certainly pricey, but they do perform.

Best boots on this side of the big Muddy.

Very comfortable boots, when broken in. Been through all types of climates during PA hunting season- feet stay warm and dry. Feet and body don't hurt after all day hunting.

Awesome Boots

I purchased these boots after a lot of research. My feet are always cold in cold weather and that’s why I got this insulated version. Decided to buy once cry once, because they are not cheap and I got them a few days ago. I’m really impressed with the quality of the materials and stitching. They fit true to size and I have ordered a set of inserts to go with them because I’m am prone to planter fasciitis. They come extremely stiff so I also purchased the kenetrek boot wax, it’s supposed to waterproof the boots. What I found out while trying to break my boots in that the wax also helped with softening the boots much faster. I’m still in the breaking in point but I’m ver pleased so far. As others have said I recommend wearing them at home for a few days, then short walks until they are thoroughly broke in before going on a long hunt.Update:I have now wore these boots for a 4 mile walk twice in a mix of concrete, asphalt and dirt, going uphill down hill and a little bit on wet rocks. They are a still a bit stiff and I would not take them to the wild until I’m sure they are completely broken in. I have experienced a little of a hot spot on my left foot small toe but no blisters. I will hit that area with some more kenetrek wax and see how it goes. I live in Southern California so can say anything about cold yet. However, I have walked in a creek and they are completely waterproof. Kinda slippery though but that is to be expected with hard soles but something to keep in mind walking on slippery terrain. As far as walking in hot weather, I like to wear wool socks and my feet normally don’t sweat a lot so I have not experienced any adverse effects in that regard. Hope this information is useful for anyone thinking getting these boots. So far I’m very pleased.

Tough

These are the baddest boots I have ever owned. I have a bum right ankle I busted in 1993. I’ve always had to buy the best boots to fight rolling it. Asolo were my go to for years till the crash of a certain trading company. I still would wear them out in just 6 months though. But they worked. I then bought these. I will say that they are true to size and I swear I could have bought 10.5 not the 11’s I got. I’m one of those people who has different sized feet! 10.5,11.. anyway I since learned you can order them from kenetrek. I got the mountain guide, because I’m mainly a miner first, and I hike countless miles wearing on the soles, and with the solid base, they do well with a huge pack on my back. I hiked about 17 miles just a few days ago in the Sierra snow. They did very well, and with that, I now need to treat them with kenetrek boot oil. Don’t use anything but! It uses bees wax, so the rubber doesn’t delaminate. So, the only bad I can say, is that they are a train wreck through the Forrest. Lol it’s not a sneaking boot, it’s one that you’ll use to do serious backpacking into country most don’t go. I’ll never buy anything else again. And you can send them In and have them rebuilt!!

Beware of scuffs and defects.

I had the same issue with scuff marks and an unusual fold/indentation on the inner side. This is my third pair trying to get them correct. It appears as noted in another person's review that these "new" boots are often ones that have been returned. You'd think someone would figure out the problem and stop replacing defective boots with more defective boots. Seriously...for this kind of price?? On the upside they do look nice and for the most part feel good except for the FOLD. Hopefully the replacements are better.

Awesome shoes !

Didn't need much time to break these shoes , and after about 70-80 miles of mountains under these shoes, I find nothing wrong with them . Great ankle support, no rubbing around the ankles . I'd say worth every penny!
