NICE boots
I work in a large warehouse store and these are absolutely perfect for walking on concrete for hours.I've had a few co-workers who were in the military stop and do a double take as it reminded them of the boots they wore.Easy to put on and take off without having to untie the laces and using the zipper on the side. Quite comfy

Sticky soles
Boot seems sturdy and looks good. The problem is a sticky and tacky coating covering the soles of the boots.

Cheap tactical boots
"Founded in 2001 by Los Angeles area police officers with the mission of bringing awesome deals to law enforcement officers, but now people of all occupations can place orders. LA Police Gear strives to efficiently provide customers with exceptional prices while maintaining fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service." (Made in China)'LA Police Gear' makes me think of the popular shoe brand from the 1980s 'LA Gear', but aimed at tacti-cool fashion rather than pop fashion.LA Police Gear apparently resells a number of name brand tactical wear products, plus their own branded line of products manufactured by white-label factories in China. These boots are an example of those.I've been needing to replace my hiking boots; I normally prefer the Tactical Research Khyber 8 Inch Insulated Combat Boots (TR550WPINS), but they're pricey and I haven't saved up yet to get a replacement pair.I decided to order the LA Police Gear Men's Core 8" Side-Zip Duty Boots to see if they might suffice as a cheaper alternative. I don't need or care about the side-zip feature, but I like tall boots with beefy soles. My first impression out of the box was "....Eeeeewwww....".The soles had some kind of sticky coating all over them. You know those little squishy, sticky octopus toys that you throw against the wall, and they go *splat* and then slowly creep down the wall because of how sticky they are? That's what this stickiness felt like. The soles themselves weren't squishy like that - they felt like dense, hard, sole rubber - but the surface was all tacky with this weird greasy, sticky film. Kind of like old rubber that has started decomposing. Not a great first impression. Maybe that explains why the paper wrapping them inside the box was... waxed paper? No but seriously, why are the soles all sticky? Am I supposed to be able to walk up the walls in these?I tried wiping them off with an old dog towel, but however hard I wiped, it didn't really remove any of this tacky layer, so I decided to just wear them a lot outside and hope that contact with dirt, water, and various whatever would cover, coat, and eliminate the sticky feeling. Yes, that did work, on the bottom - but the sides of the soles haven't caught up yet and are still a little greasy-sticky. It's kind of gross. The footbeds are a little harder than I like, but that's not a mark against these boots; I normally toss out whatever cheap footbeds come in my boots and replace them with softer third-party insoles of my liking.Despite the use of leather in many places on the upper, the zipper placket is made of some kind of fake leather. The same fake leather is used on the inside lining behind the eyelets. They do provide the solid kind of ankle support I like - one of the reasons I prefer boots of this height even for hiking. The toebox is generous, and semi-crush-resistant, but it's not a safety toe. They do hold up to some irresponsible kicking of stumps, tires, and shed walls. There is a seam on the inside of the tongue which presses uncomfortably against my right ankle bone on the inside. The left one has the same seam but doesn't do that. Aside from that, the boots are actually fairly comfortable to spend the day in - walking, driving, standing. Hopefully after sufficient break-in this will stop being a pressure point, but I won't be wearing them hiking until that has been worked out. They squeak a lot when I walk and move around. I sound like a cop.I'm giving them four stars for now, primarily for the price-to-comfort ratio, but the price-to-durability ratio has yet to be determined, and the weird sticky soles thing is just.... gross. I mean I would probably return them or at least complain to the seller if I'd ordered them at full price and received these in this condition. I'd never walk out of a shoe store with sticky new boots like this.I'll update my review later after they have fully broken in and gotten some more serious wear. We'll see if they deserve to keep all four stars.

Reliable and Comfortable.
I am very familiar with LAPG products since I often shop at their Ontario, Ca store and familiar with how they cater to law enforcement and other professions focused on safety. They try to keep their prices competitive.I am impressed with these boots. They are light weight and require very little break in time. The side zippers is an added plus. No need to mess with laces. There is good ankle support, especially when running and gunning on the range and when going on challenging hikes. The treads have a good grip and the material is breathable. It doesn’t make my feet hot during long hikes.I like the coyote color. You can’t really tell how dirty it is, which I like. The stitching is durable, the soles are strong, and it has comfortable cushioning.Highly recommended.

Nonconformity
Although the suede boots look good, they are not suitable for hiking. The suede material itself causes the boots to stay damp for long periods, and together with the excessive padding on the upper part, they retain water and dry very slowly, making them uncomfortable and heavy. In addition, the zipper is easily damaged by dust, and without it, putting them on or taking them off is difficult. Overall, they offer more appearance than functionality.
