I have been purchasing Leo’s Jazz Tap Shoes for the last 15 years (4 pairs to date, which I think is a solid testament to their quality) directly from the Leo’s website, which is no longer in service, it seems. I’m a dance teacher, and I love these shoes since they are comfortable to teach multiple classes in and I love the flexibility of a split sole tap shoe, which is why I’ve always purchased the “Jazz Tap Shoe”.First of all, these shoes are NOT split sole, so therefore I’m confused as to what is “jazz” about it...?Second, I’ve ordered the same size (10.5) every time I’ve purchased a new pair, and this pair fits a half size too small.Third, the shoes now have rivets to hold the taps on, not screws, so once they loosen, they’re toast.Overall, the quality has severely decreased since I bought my last pair, and with the sizing issue, I’ll be returning these and finding a new brand/style. Disappointing overall.
We are just starting tap for my daughter. Quality seems a lot better than the other tap shoes from Theatricals, etc. Daughter wears size 4 street so we ordered a 5. Ended up returning for a 6.
Sizes were way off. Think we needed to go up 2 or 3 sizes
Fit is great but the screws in the taps are very loose.
For anyone new to dance; dance shoes have their own sizing, do not order your regular shoe size. In the Leo tap shoes, I went up 1 size from my daughters normal shoe size. We could have went up another 1/2 if you want room to grow or less snug fit (run narrow). So a size 7 in regular shoes is an 8 or 8 1/2 in this brand of Tap. We have previously bought Leo brand of tap shoes, and they lasted through a school year of dance before she outgrew them. They still look in good shape. The price on Amazon is great.
Yes, these run extremely small. They are also not quality shoes. My daughter has only owned them a short time and doesn't tap that hard and they have fallen apart. The front tap is bolted in, not screwed. So there is no way to tighten them, no way to fix and no way to replace. A complete waste of money.
