Absolutely, outstanding boot, with zero break-in time. Took it straight out of the box and into the field, and it formed beautifully. Already looking at getting another set in black for work. Super durable, extremely light and beyond comfortable.
First off, they look cool as heck.At ~500 grams they are probably the lightest AR670 compliant boot on the market. Whilst feeling like two clouds on your feet, they allow you to jet forward like a rocket, launch yourself into the air like a slightly different, equally fast and rad rocket, and land like a very soft yet stabilized lunar lander of sorts. The Carbonfiber spring plate feels like it should be illegal, as not only does it gift awesome bonus acceleration but it helps give your gait better rhythm/timing/whatever metronomic gauge of however many particles of your dust your competitors will be eating. They run like Brooks running shoes, with the power of Michael Jordan, and you feel like Solid Snake.As for sizing, I don’t know. I have the recommended “thumb width” of toe room but I feel like I want to lace them up tighter. But for 180 bucks just keep buying pairs until you find the right one.Don’t listen to the babies talking about break-in periods or needing to strengthen your ankles. If you’re buying these boots you know what you’re using them for and you’ve most undoubtedly been doing your plyos&prehab (right? If not you’re toast); you’ll be completely fine the boots come ready to rock right out the gate.I would undoubtedly wear these as basketball shoes, and in fact I’m going to.Personally, I like the thin wire laces as opposed to thick cottony ones. These have that covered. The (Laceletts?) ((lace brackets??)) seem do be pretty durable I’ll follow up with a torture test which brings me to my next point; These are most definitely NOT going to be the most durable boot in your arsenal, which is OK because they aren’t supposed to be. I used a suede brush and immediately the stitching around the water vent hole ports started coming up. The soles are a very nice stable foam, but not hard rubber until the 6mm of tread, which is fantastic for running on hard ground, dirt/grass, light forestry etc.They most definitely will be beaten out by garments in heavy terrain/mud etc.Most definitely NOT your 60+ lb ruck boot, but for obstacles and cooking cooking fools on the track, these are unmatched. Again: rocketship clouds on your feet.GRIEVANCES:- @ OTB why is there not an option for all black???-I didn’t realize you had to polish suede with specialized suede polish, so I minked these bad boys and they look like mocha frappuccinos now. Who cares they’re gonna get beat to heck and back anyways.-when you inevitably wear them everywhere, your family/friends are going to start asking annoying questions like “please don’t wear those to church again” (not a question, idiot) and “please stop asking me to race” or “no I won’t stand under the basketball hoop to let you reenact Blake Griffins over the car dunk”you just have to kangaroo hop above them and give them a solid wallop to the head.-too much female attention-probably the lifespan. I’ll torture these things and get back to yinz
The OTB Boots M-Carbon 8 Tactical Boots are overall a great pair of boots, especially for the price. They are incredibly lightweight, which makes them comfortable to wear for long hours without fatigue, and the carbon-plated sole provides excellent support and protection. The slip-resistant sole has good traction on various surfaces, and the durable material holds up well in rough conditions. My only minor complaint is that the break-in period was a bit longer than expected, and the sizing runs slightly large, so consider sizing down if you’re in between sizes. Other than that, these are top-notch tactical boots that I would definitely recommend for work, outdoor activities, or heavy-duty use.
Extreamly comfortable, with no wear in period, their lightweight and fit amazing for those who like a wider toe box. Durability will tell with time but this tread being so light it will wear down faster then most, I expect a good 2-3 years wear before replacement.
The boots size is running small. If u wear between size 8.5 to 9 normal shoes go for true size like 9 or 9.5 for this boots. And idk why some colors are faded in this boots as well.After I wore couple of days it slowly breaks down. But I recommend for people who have wide feets go for half size up or wide. This boots run small. Not true size.Alright after wearing this boots for couple of weeks it's still breaking down. Cons for this boots are run small and Narrow. If you have wide feet don't get regular. Go for wide and half or one size up. Size wide runs very small. This company should work on size guide charts.
I have been having serious problems with a lot of boots not giving enough stability on the ankle and elevating the heel position to high so feet are slight plantar flexed and ankles and feet are super unstable and prone to rolling.I think the heel elevation is meant to give the wearer a sense of being propelled foward, but that forward pitch on the lower leg from elevated heel is really a very unstable position.These boots however are incredible!!First they are actually genuinely light!1.4 pounds for the entire pair I believe. When I lifted the shipping box from Amazon I said…dude no way there is a pair of boots in here.I thought the carbon in the foot bed being a propulsion was going to be a gimmicky thing…but it is absolutely legit.Ankle support is tremendous.I hope that they don’t ever stop making these because I’ll only ever be using these from now on.I have a big 4 day tactical/wilderness medicine training event coming up in December so I’ll update after that on how they did on trail with a pack.
