The deck boots seem well made, waterproof, stylish, and fit me perfectly. I am a U.S. size 11 and I ordered size 11.Designed for the deck of a boat, I think they would work very well in the garden walking on soft earth or grass.I really like the cloth pull tab in the front and back. I am so glad it is big enough for me to put a finger in the loop and pull on the shoes.I would not use these to walk on hard surfaces for a long distance. There is not enough support or cushion.Two ideal you might want to consider for these shoes is to #1 make sure they float in case the shoes fall off the boat, #2 use a highly reflective cloth for the cloth pull tab in case the sailor falls into the water at night.
