This style runs bigger
This style of Mephisto runs larger than others. After having sore feet for many years with many shoes types. I got a pair of Mephistos and the foot bed is perfect for my feet. In other shoes I would take an 8.0 or 8.5 and even a 9.0. But in a Mephisto's I take an 8.0. So now I have 6 pairs. I decided I will only wear Mephistos. I love them. As I needed a nice pair for dress / work. I got these. But was not happy. They felt like clown shoes. giant. I checked the box .. size 8. checked the shoes ... size 8. ?? I think the key is that most other casual shoes like the Match or the Walker, they have a small padding around the back. These do not. Of course they would not, they are dress shoes. But that missing padding makes your heel loose and move up and out of the shoes. Since I am firm on size 8. and would never go to a 7.5, may have to research other dress Mephistos.

Half size down for length
Order half size down from your usual Mephisto size (which means order size down from your EU size and 1.5 size down from your US size). The length was perfect but the width is slightly tight. It will probably stretch over time or if you use a shoe stretcher. There is a tag at the mid part of the shoe that is visible. It is kind of out of place for a dress shoe. It is quite comfortable but the collar slightly rubbed against my ankles.

Worlds best classy every day, but dressy shoe
In this case, yes, order a size down. With mephisto, I order 8 instead of 8.5 Comfortable with jeans or dressed up. Only reason I purchasedwas becauase of my dog. Otherwise the pair I she destroyed would have given me ten more years. This particular style with the mixed texture is stunning. I am a mephisto fan.Dogs do love the leather so keep in your closet!

Bad shoes
Do not take the risk of buying these shoes without trying them on! The sizes are totally nuts. I am a 12. I purchased an 11.5 and it was way too big. Cut my feet. Next I tried an 11, and it was way too small! They don't have a 12! You lose either way. I will never buy shoes from this company again.
