I love these sandals
These cork sandals are sooo great. I tried a cheaper pair last year and they were trash in 3 months. These form to your foot, snugly. My having high arches I need the full support they give. I think the difference in the cheap pair and these are the depth of the cork. I had a pair of these before the cheapies that lasted me two years, wearing almost every day! I wear them in the house all day like slippers. You could hike a flat terrain in these and never feel an ache. They'd stay on with a bit rougher and varied terrain, but you would be putting stress on the straps. These are a "walking" shoe as your feet never tire in them. Also, find that the heels don't callous as much in these. So good option for covid no Pedi and when Pedis are back you look great in them.

Buy these!!!
I purchased my first pair just like these 6 years ago. I love them. They have been to Canada, St. Kitts, Aruba, and Florida. I do not take good care of my everyday sandals. Mine have mowed, shoveled dirt, been dropped in the pool and been through many washes-hosed off. I love them. I wore the first pair for 6 years and when it was time to replace...I ordered the exact same thing. They fit perfect, have great arch support which I need, and are sturdy and fun. You will not be disappointed in the fit, wear, or comfort. Although pricey, they are worth every penny.

Too tight!
I agree with the reviewer "Susan" ... the straps on these sandals are not well proportioned. The width of the footbed would have suited me better than my regular Helens which I've nearly worn out, but the straps are too tight across the toes and they dug in painfully. I ended up giving them to my daughter-in-law whose foot is more slender than mine. She was pleased but I was not!

Shame on you Mophisto
Shame on you Mophisto!! I lost my Grey Etnas so I ordered a new pair. The material is thick and stiff and cheap. My old pair were soft as butter. Luckily I found them so I'll be having those resoled!! The three stars is because the shoes are excellent support now that I've got the leather broken in. But mophisto used to always be the best quality materials and knowing they are cutting corners in the quality of leather they are using for their upper I

Not Great for Bunions
I love the style of this shoe, and the quality is fantastic. As a lady with a larger foot and extremely flat feet, I really appreciate that Mephisto has larger sandal sizes and the extra width was perfect. Unfortunately with my bunion it just didn't work out as the bottom of the toe strap sits right above my bunion. It pinched/rubbed my bunion, and I don't think it's the kind of problem that would be fixed by breaking in, so I had to return them.

May need a very minor but critical modification you can do at home.
This 5 star rating is based on the sandals' comfort due to the arch support & excellent stabilization from the heel cup. HOWEVER, a problem I've had with every pair (I have 3) of Mephisto's 'Helen' sandals: the underside of the angled front leather strap MUST be carefully filed down before wearing. Failure to do so has abraded the skin beneath. The fact that I have some lower leg swelling may contribute to the need to do this, but only the 'Helen' model seems to require such modification. (I live in Hawaii, and have several other Mephisto sandals.) I suspect it has something to do with the strap being split and very slightly twisted to fashion the strap into a thong on this model. Other than that, these are great sandals, with good arch support and excellent heel stabilization. To do the filing, I slightly bevel the front of the leather strap using the same grinding tool we use to file our dog's nails. (A Dremel tool would serve the same purpose.) I work from the underside, and go slowly, checking often. Only a very small amount of filing is necessary to remove that 90 degree edge--but it makes a huge difference in comfort. If you don't have such equipment, you could use a hand tool designed to file pet nails or a microplane or a rasping tool from your workshop. Just work carefully, and from the underside, checking the edge often. You don't want to damage the top surface.

These were not wide width!
I have a 10 year old pair that are still dreamy, but the strap on top is tight and flat. No give. Other reviews say same, I see now!
