SIZE 14 extra wide

Fits perfect if you have wide feet like me! Very comfortable shoe, and a good price. Would recommend these highly. I have a size 14w shoe and these seem slightly wide but as I walked around they were a good fit. They broke in easy and did not make my feet sore. Good support, better support than my New Balance sneakers! I had a pair of Merrell hiking shoes a long time ago and liked them a lot and for what ever reason I didn't buy them again. I think that I'm sold on Merrell again! Quality shoes! One thing is that their EXACT SIZE. You don't have to size them up. And be ware that when you need extra wide that these are that. Maybe slightly wider than you would think. Some have had issues with the laces but I found that they worked fine! I would definitely purchase these again. I would have no reason to believe that these would not last a long time.

Nice, comfy shoe

I had my last pair of Merrell shoes for over 3 years before they started tearing. I tried other brands but none were as comfortable as my Merrells. Unfortunately the exact shoe was discontinued, so I went through all the options on amazon and ordered 3 styles: this, the waterproof Moab 2, and the All Out Blaze Aero. This one was the best all-around of the 3. I do not hike that much, but I like the support and traction for whenever I do. For the most part, these are just daily shoes for me to wear to work. So YMMV depending on your desire for the shoe. The Blaze was best for me, but I kept the Alverstone as well for winter hiking and snowy days and to prolong the life of both. The Alverstones aren't as comfy as my old ones, but they're pretty close. For comparison sake: The Moab 2 was a bit narrower and tighter feeling in the standard width and definitely felt larger and heavier. For only hiking, they might be the better option, but I returned them. The Blaze was super light and comfy, but I hadn't realized that the material was mostly a mesh which means water would go right into it. At first that was a disqualifier, but when I realized the number of times that would be an actual issue for me was very small, I decided to keep them and they are my daily shoe now.

Great for outdoor work/hiking shoes!

As a roofer I generally go through work shoes pretty often compared to most people. I’ve sworn by Merrell for quite some time now, and with amazons try before you buy you literally cannot go wrong with this shoe for anything outdoor! Great quality, durability, grip, and pricing. Highly recommend! True to size for me.

Nice Shoe

I started wearing Merrill several years ago as they are just comfortable. I'm no connoisseur of shoes so the fact that these were another line from what I've been buying (Moab line) really had no meaning. These are comfortable shoes and are a pair I wear only in the house. The one thing I really dislike (and it admittedly is a nit) is the pull strap at the top of the heel. The Moab line has a strap which has one end attached at the top of the heel with the other end attached about an inch down. There is always a loop to grab to pull the shoe on. These however, while there is what could be a loop, the way it is attached - one point at the top of the heel - it does not lend itself to being a loop. Seems no matter what I do, the strap does not want to separate into a loop.

Happy with my first pair of Merrell Alverstone Hiking Shoes

I have had a pair of Merrell Moab Hiking Shoes that I use almost daily for my walking regiment and I have also used them twice walking sections of the Appalacian Trial and they have worn like iron. The only place they have shown much wear is the back of the shoe at the heel. I have had my Merrell Moab hiking shoes for over four years and they don't look too bad for "old hiking shoes" but because I have used them more lately for mowing the yard and working in my garden they just aren't "pristine" looking enough for wearing to outdoor picnics, parties, and eating out with my wife. I saw the Merrell Alverstone Hiking Shoes and liked the way they looked and the good price for them so I figured is they were anyway as good as the Merrell Moab Hiking Shoes I would be happy with them. So far I really like my new Merrell Alverstone Hiking Shoes. The fit was good right out of the box and I have had no problems doing by 1.5 to 2 mile daily walks with them. It's like they were already "broken-in" and I don't get any blisters or sore areas on my feet or heels from using them new right out of the box.

Great all around

Just bought my 4th pair of these Alverstone’s. I’m not a hiker or a backpacker. Just an average dude who lives an active lifestyle. These shoes do it all. From daily use standing and walking on concrete all day, to working on cars and beach trips. These shoes have consistently lasted a year for me. I replace them once the sole literally wear out. They’re comfortable out of the box even with the factory insoles. Which is highly unusual for any shoe.I’ll continue to buy these as long as I can find them. The green are my favorite color but honestly not worth the price. The tan are $30 cheaper. Opted for the waterproof version this time.

Best shoes

I have foot problems, and these are the best shoes I have ever owned when it comes to plantar fasciitis. I picked up my first pair (of Merrels) off a sale rack at the shoe store, and have proceeded to but three more pairs since then.Excellent arch support. Good looking shoe.
