Waterproof hiking shoes. Comfortable for me.

Merrell have always done me well with the Moab GTX line, and these are no exception. Fit is what I expected. May not be the most robust construction, but also not the most expensive hikers. GTX waterproof works great for me.

Moab 2 Smooth the Perfect Light Hiker

Took these on a 10 mile hike over dirt, rock, and mud and I'm very happy with them. They're slightly less rigid than an Oboz Sawtooth, but a bit comfier and lighter. I need a wide size in the Oboz but not in the Merrells. My only complaint is that they were very slipper on a wet roots. It's difficult to get a straight answer on what makes the "smooth" variant of the Moab 2 different. As far as I can tell the fabric in-between the leather in the upper is made of something more substantial than the "vent" but not waterproof. So the "smooth" seems to be a slight harder wearing and better looking (in my opinion) version.

Love these shoes

I have a couple of pair of Merrell boots/hiking shoes. The fit is consistent and comfortable. I can always trust that when i order shoes in the same size as the past, they will always fit without the need to try them on. I tend to order my hiking shoes a ½ size larger than my usual shoes to ensure room for heavy socks, when needed, and to be assured that there is no tightness near the toes. Never came close to a blister or hotshot with these and have found Merrell hiking shoes to have great durability (and water tightness).

Merrell makes good shoes

I have been ordering Merrell hikers at my son's request for some time. He has never had a problem with them.He says they are comfortable, they hold up well and last a long time. They are nice looking and modern with no punky look. Great colors.

Not very comfortable

The insoles that come with these are about useless. The sole is hard so you need some good insoles and then they are usable. They seem to be pretty durable and fit okay, maybe a little loose in the toe. They look good and breathe well so they will probably stay on my rack for a while but they aren't my favorite shoes.

Great Shoe

Shoes were exactly as expected. Very pleased with shoes. Comfortable the first time I wore them. Suggest you try them on at a shoe store before ordering. My experience Is Merrell’s need to be ordered a half size larger than your street shoes.
